LOST-Catch Up

I haven't blogged about LOST in a couple weeks.
In last weeks episode, Sawyer and Kate gave wounded Young Ben to Richard Alpert. Alpert says he can help him and an Other tells Alpert, "Ellie and Charles won't be happy." Charles is of course Charles Widmore who we know was at one time the leader of the Others until Ben kicked him off the Island, and who we met in the past. Ellie would be the young British girl that we met in the 50's. So are Ellie and Charles married? Faraday said that he thought she looked familiar. My thought: Ellie is Eloise Hawking. It would explain her connection to the Others. But, could there be any chance that Faraday, son of Eloise Hawking, and Penny, daughter of Charles Widmore, could be siblings? There are three different last names involved, but maybe thats a diversion.
Again, where are Rose and Bernard and Vincent? And with that, what has happened to Faraday, and will Desmond come back? How are Sun and Lapidus going to get to 1977?

25 Must See Movies

Yahoo has released a list of the 100 movies to see before you die. I have not seen every movie on the list, but I think that is my new summer goal. But as I read through their list I thought that I should make my own list. Well, I didn’t want to write a list of 100 movies, so I decided I would do 25.

There are some movies I think everyone should see before they die: The Godfather, The Graduate, Citizen Kane, basically I think Yahoo did a good job. But those films are not included on the Andy Green list. Its not that I don’t think those films are good, because they are. But I wouldn’t bring those on a desert island with me.

LOST-3/4-La Fleur

This week we finally got to see a little bit of the four-toed statue. Upon further inspection, and an idea from Erin Knoble, the statue looks like on of the Egyptian gods, either Anubis or Osiris. It makes sense, seeing that there are hieroglyphs on the temple, and the mysterious wall that Ben pushes to control the smoke monster, and the countdown sequence in the Swan station. I think it is Anubis, who happens to be the Egyptian god of the afterlife.
What happened to Bernard, Rose, and Vincent? As far as we know they survived the flaming arrow attack, but Vincent's leash was found by Sawyer before they found the Indian canoes. I understand Rose and Bernard chilling on the beach during the time flashes, but I don't believe they've been sitting around for three years. Sawyer has two weeks to find the rest of his crew according to Horace, does that mean he will go to the beach to pick up Rose and Bernard? Will we just see them at the Dharma barracks with no explanation, acting as if they've been there all along with the rest of the Losties?
I don't think the young girl with red hair is Charlotte. When Daniel saw her it was 1974, and according to Ben in season 4 Charlotte was not born until 1979.
I think that the 316 flight that crashed on the Hydra Island is still in 2008. In 1974-77, the Hydra station would be full of Dharma staffers and polar bears. So where does that leave Locke, Ben, Lapidus, maybe Sun, and the rest of the red shirts that are currently on it?

I read a headline today that read, “U.S. government vows not to use “waterboarding.”

It is sad that our world has come to that. We need to announce that we no longer endorse torture. Torture. Isn’t there something in the Geneva Convention that tells us we can’t torture people? Does the fact that we were attacked eight years ago give us the right to drown America’s moral values? We have a Patriot Act that basically ignores the freedoms given to us by the Constitution and embraces the future given to us by George Orwell.

There are people out there that are upset about the fact that the Obama Administration is shutting down Guantanamo Bay. Guantanamo Bay is a detention facility in Cuba were we store Afghanistan and Iraq citizens that we assume are terrorists. Now, if there was an island off the coast of Iraq were American citizens were taken after being drug out of their houses in the middle of the night, then were tortured by simulated drowning, held without trial, and forced to watch guards rip pages out the Bible that were then flushed down a toilet: do you think American’s would be angry about this and want this stopped? What gives us the right?

Organic Frosted Flakes

I’ll pause for a moment to let that sink in.

Drew Matzen has a box of organic Frosted Flakes. That means someone was thinking, “You know, I like these Frosted Flakes, but they are just so unhealthy for you. I’ll make them from all organic material, that way they will be healthy and I won’t feel shameful when I eat breakfast.” First of all, when I think of a healthy breakfast I never think of cereal. I don’t care what cereal you are eating. I don’t care if it is oat flakes laced with calcium and Vitamin D, chunks of shredded fiber, two scoops of raisons, with low fat Vitamin C milk. The fact is, you are eating a bowl of cereal. It’s the same bowl of cereal that is advertised by a flamboyant tiger. Even if you’re eating Kix, which are Kid tested and Mother approved, you still sprinkle sugar on the top. And then drink the sugar infested milk at the end.

Sidenote: I would never put sugar into a glass of milk if I was just regularly drinking a glass of milk. But when I get to the bottom of a bowl of Rice Krispies where I have ten granules of sugar for every Krispie, I am lapping up that milk. Or the poser chocolate milk at the bottom of Count Chocula. Never would I think about making chocolate milk by place crisped rice into it. But when it’s at the bottom of the cereal bowl, man.

Back to the point. If you wanted to eat a healthy Frosted Flake, you would eat a Corn Flake. Because, honestly, all a Frosted Flake is, is a sugar coated Corn Flake. Now, the very few times I’ve ever eaten a bowl of Corn Flakes, I’ve sprinkled sugar on. Basically making homemade Frosted Flakes, with better tasting milk at the end.

Now, I asked Drew Matzen why he was in possession of a box of organic Frosted Flakes. His reason was, “Because they’re good.” I tried one of the organic Frosted Flakes. It was exactly the same as a regular Frosted Flake. So this is how I believe organic Frosted Flakes came into existence:

Two guys are sitting at a table with a bowl of Frosted Flakes. First guy says, “What are selling this crap for, like, five dollars a box? How can we make it ten dollars a box without doing anything different?” The second guy says, “We can write ‘Organic’ on the box.” “Done!”

I want to see the organic cartoon tiger that’s going to advertise this crap.

To be perfectly honest, I really have a hard time recalling when the last time I had a bowl of cereal was. I don’t understand why the cartoon leprechaun and cartoon rabbit are not allowed to eat their cereals, but the coco puff bird and the smacks frog need their cereal like a meth addict begging for a fix. The rabbit doesn’t even get to eat his own yogurt. I want to meet the genius who discovered that if you mix Coco Puffs and Peanut Butter Crunch, you can package it as Reese’s Puffs. I think if I was to get back to eating cereal, I would go for either Smacks or Corn Puffs, or the Rice Krispie Treat cereal. A bowl of cereal cannot replace a good plate of scrambled eggs and bacon. But you can't advertise bacon and eggs with a flamboyant cartoon tiger with an annoying catch phrase.

LOST-2/26-The Life and Death of Jeremy Benthem

Hello my name is Terry O'Quinn and this is the episode I am submitting to the Emmy committee.
This episode throws another twist into a long ranging battle between Ben Linus and Charles Widmore. On one hand, I want to trust Charles Widmore and believe that Ben Linus is the villain. Ben helped lead the purge against Dharma, Widmore says Ben tricked him into leaving, and as we see at the end it see at the end, the Island does not want Ben back. It could make sense that Widmore wants to protect the Island and Ben is making it very difficult. But I really want to believe Ben. I want to believe that Ben is the good guy. I want to believe that Ben is trying his hardest to do the right thing and keep the Island safe. But who to believe!?
Ben kills Abaddon in a Pulp Fiction "I just shot Marvin in the face"-esque killing. Ben also kills Locke in a "Luca Brasi sleeps with the fishes"-esque killing. Now something I found interesting is that Ben didn't seem like he wanted to kill Locke into Locke told him that Jin was still alive. Ben only needs one person to want to go back to the Island to get the others, is telling Sun about Jin his plan? And does Ben believe if he gets the people back to the Island instead of Locke he can take his place as leader again?
Whats up with the new castaways/red shirts on the Hydra Island. I knew Hydra would come into to play again, but it seems that the Oceanic 6 landed in the seventies with an active Dharma Initiative. Why is the Hydra island deserted? And did the Dharma folk see the plane crash? A plane crash that looks as if the plane just lightly sat down on the Island. And Lapidus took the flight manifest and took off with a woman. What woman? Could it be Sun? Does the Island realize that Sun left her child in Korea and Jin wants her to stay safe.
I read next weeks press release and it said that Horace Godspeed would be returning, so I want to repeat my thoughts that Charlotte is Horace's daughter.

Oscars 2008

I mean, The Slumdog Millionaire Show with special guest Kate Winslet.
Lets first talk about the winners. Unfortionately I haven't been able to see most of this years nominees so I was going in with a little bit of haze. Last years winner, No Country for Old Men, is now one of my favorite movies. Slumdog pulled through all night long. I guess that wasn't much of a surprise. Another award that wasn't much of a surprise was Heath Ledger for Best Supporting Actor. I was probley one of the few people in America who was not rooting for Heath Ledger. Personally I wanted Robert Downey Jr. for Tropic Thunder. Not that Ledger didn't do a good job, but I think if he wouldn't have died there would not have been so much attention on his performance. I think that the best performance in Dark Knight came from Gary Oldman as Commissioner Gordon. One of the only upsets of the night was Sean Penn winning over Mickey Rourke. I think Mickey really wanted that award, but I don't think that Mickey felt he deserved it. Sean Penn always seems like he has a sense of arrogance.
Of the performance aspects of the night, I thought Hugh Jackman was a good host. He wasn't a comedian, I would have rather had Ricky Gervais or even Conan O'Brien. But the Recession musical at the beginning was good. Jackman knows how to entertain a crowd. But the lack of humor throughout the night made Tina Fey, Steve Martin, and Ben Stiller funnier. I really enjoyed the Pineapple Express minifilm. One of the more interesting changes was how the awards were presented. Instead of last year's Best Supporting Actor giving out the award for Best Supporting Actress, five former Best Supporting Actresses did. That allowed us to see Chris Walken's horrible haircut that looked like a baby Koala Bear was attached to the base of his head. It also allowed Robert DeNiro, Ben Kingsley, Anthony Hopkins and Micheal Douglas to share the same stage with a very misplaced and awkward Adrian Brody. But one of the best shots of the night was Mickey Rourke with Edward Cullen on his left and Tina Fey on his right.

What I like about Lost is that just when you think you've got it, it throw in one of those episodes where you go: Wait, what?
So the Oceanic Six need to go back to the Island and what helps them do that? Daniel's mom and giant Pendulum in a Dharma station under a Los Angeles church. Of course Jack is on board and he is in possession of Locke's body(who is now wearing Christian's shoes.) Something has happened to Aaron and now Kate is on board. Sun comes to the airport not seeming to worried about her baby in Korea. Hurley has somehow gotten out of jail, has a guitar, and is reading a copy of Y the Last Man (Whose author Brian K. Vaughn is a writer on the show.) And somehow Sayid is under arrest and also on the flight. Oh, and whose driving this plane to Guam, a clean shaven Frank Lapidous. At the last minute a bruised and bloodied Ben rushes on to the plane. He said that before he left he had to fulfill a promise to an old friend which I believe was supposed to be killing Penny. Looks like he didn't make it that far. There is a blinding white flash, Jack, Kate, and Hurley find themselves on the Island, and then a Dharma van drives up and out comes Jin, in a Dharma uniform.
Here's one problem I have. Mrs. Hawking made it seem that the Island is constantly moving. But if that is the case, how could the Freighter have found it? How could Micheal get back to the states after following the proper coordinates? How could Alpert and Mr. Friendly make trips back to the states to talk to Juliet/Locke/Micheal? And if the Island is constantly moving through time, how could the Arrow station with the video cameras work? How could been have footage of the 2004 World Series?

What has happened to Aaron and where is he?
Why did Sayid get arrested and why is Hurley out of jail with full knowledge of the way back to the Island?
Who beat the hell out of Ben?
Where are the other castaways after the plane crash, and did the plane crash? Will we soon see Ben, Sun, Sayid, Lapidus, and maybe that Arab guy on the Island?
What year is the Island on, and why is Jin working for Dharma? Is it the same reason Faraday was with Dharma in the season premier?

One thing that the constant shifting through time would explain is the food Dharma food drop off in the earlier seasons.

And one thing Erin Knoble pointed out to me is that in the Lighthouse there was a series of numbers counting down similar to the one in the hatch. Could there be other hatches around the world? And is that why that man in the institution was repeating the numbers?

My Ideal Finale Episode of Late Night

This Friday is the finale episode of Late Night with Conan OBrien.

Of course Conan will be taking over as the host of the Tonight Show, but it will not be the same as the current Late Show. I have put together a finale I think will be worthy of Conan’s last fifteen years on Late Night.

It starts out with a play on his first opening scene where he sits on a bench and leans over telling someone that it is his last show and then ends up leading a crowd down the street. The crowd then gets distracted by David Lee Roth.

Conan comes out to do his monologue. He jumps around the stage, purrs like a cat, and does the string dance. He says that it is going to be a good show tonight, that he says that every night, but tonight he is telling the truth. Instead of doing jokes about recent events, he reflects on the last fifteen years. He jokes about how he was not a good host at the beginning. He says something offensive and leads the audience in, “I’ma gonna go to Hell when I die, (clap clap).” He brings out the a parade of the best of the Late Night Characters: Pimpbot 5000, Coked-up Werewolf, Preparation H Raymond, Masturbating Bear, Vomiting Kermit, Jewbacca, Evil Puppy, Peirre Bernard’s Recliner of Rage, the World’s Fastest Baby Jesus, Raccoon with a jetpack, the worlds tallest dachshund, the FedEx Pope, and a final moment with Triumph the Insult Comic Dog. Then, Frankenstein will waste a minute of our time.

Conan will decide to look into the future and the surprise guest will be Andy Richtor. Andy then stays on to be the first quest. They reminisce about the show and then take the desk for a drive.

The second guest is Al Roker, who makes a comment about how many times he has been on the show. Mr. T also comes out during the interview. Abe Vigoda and James Lipton also make cameo appearances.

The musical guest is Radiohead who plays Creep(the first musical guest)

Conan then thanks the writers and crew as the band, Joel, Andy, and all the characters join him on stage.

LOST-2/11-This Place is Death

With Rousseau and her science expedition team comes the return of the Smoke Monster. Like always we don't learn anything new about the monster, but we do know that it was what caused the severing of Montand's arm. And that it lives under a temple. I'm hoping that Charlotte's death in this episode is final. I have never been a fan of hers.
But one of the more interesting happenings of this episode is Christian Shepard. Is Christian Jacob? He lives in Jacob's Cabin. He gives Locke orders with authority. He knows what he is doing with the Island. One of my theories since season one is has been Christian is the leader of the Others, and the show really does nothing to disprove it.
Another theory of mine is that Charlotte's father is Horace Godspeed.
And the big reveal this week wasn't all that big. It was pretty safe to assume that Mrs. Hawking was Faraday's mom. (Did anyone notice that her full name is Eloise Hawking, and the time traveling rat's name was Eloise.) I am excited to see how they find the Island.

Does Locke leaving stop the time traveling, or just the Constant Sickness?
Does Frank Lapidus have to go back to the Island too?
Will Locke's leg heal as he leaves the Island?

LOST-2/4-The Little Prince

I have a theory about the "Nose-Bleed-Constant-Sickness", but it might have some faults. First, Desmond gets the constant sickness when leaving the island last season, and it was cured by finding a constant within Penny. Now, Charlotte has the constant sickness, Miles had a nose bleed, and Juliet had a nose bleed. Okay, so my theory is that the time you get the sickness depends on the length of time you lived on the Island. Desmond had lived on the Island for three years, Juliet came to the island around 2002. Desmond landed on the island around 2001. He started the sickness right after starting the time travel. Juliet is just starting to get it.
Now, that leaves Miles and Charlotte. Charlotte stated at the end of the last season that she always wondered where she came from, suggesting she came from the island. Miles has shown no signs that he is from the island, but Locke said something to him suggesting he was. Now, Miles is Asian, and Marvin Candle is Asian, and we saw that Marvin Candle had a baby on the island in the the first episode of this season. Could Miles be the son of Marvin Candle? He has a psychic power, maybe the power stems from the island.
Now the flaw with that theory is Minikowski. Minikowski had the constant sickness on the freighter and it killed him. But, Minikowski might have been an Other at one point. Maybe we will run into him while the Castaways are floating around time as an Other.

What happens to Bernard, Rose, and Vincent when the time changes. When the time changed to Aaron's birth, did They run into each other from the past, or do they hide out, or are they at some different point on the island.
How does Sawyer's gun travel through time with them?
Who brought the canoes to the island?
I want to go back and see if there is any time that Rousseau gave Jin a "you look familiar" look.
Rousseau had sad her crew was taken out by a sickness. What kind of sickness was it, and will the castaways witness this.
Is Widmore sending the assassins to take down the Oceanic 6?

LOST-1/29-Jughead

With this episode of LOST, it seems the writers are taking some time to flush out the history of the Island, which I think is needed and gives the writers two more seasons to get the Oceanic 6 back to the Island.
I finally thought of where I've seen Charlotte before:

Remember when Jack and Sayid were in the Hatch in Season 2, and Sayid said that the last time he had seen something covered in so much cement was Chernobyl? Now the is an H-Bomb on the Island that needs to be covered in cement to stop it from exploding. Coincidence?
I find it funny that Desmond named his son after Charlie.
With the revelation that Widmore was once an Other, it brings up the questions of what happened that made him leave? What happened that made him want to kill all the other Others? Numerous questions.
I also find it funny that the Others refer to themselves as "Others."
Desmond has to go to Los Angeles to find Faraday's mom. Who is in Los Angeles? Mrs. Hawking.
Now that we are again showed that Alpert is ageless, I want to know if he has four toes. I wonder if the time-travelers will be brought back to the time where the four-toed statue is still standing.
Does future Alpert remember running into Locke and Faraday, and if he does, why has he not said anything?

Twilight part 3

Spoilers On

Well, this morning I finished Breaking Dawn.
You know how the movie Alien was good, and Predator was good, and Alien vs. Predator was entertaining, but in Alien vs. Predator 2 there was the hybrid Alien/Predator and the movie was crap. Well, in Breaking Dawn there is a hybrid human/vampire, and though I was not a fan of the character, it was not hokey and made the story interesting. In this book, Bella marries Edward and gets what she has wanted since the first book: immortality as a vampire.
The book does something real interesting and tells about three hundred pages from Jacob's point of view, and though I didn't think I would like that, it made me feel better about Jacob, and I would have rather watched Bella's pregnancy from Jacob's perspective then hear about it from Bella's.
I am not a fan of the imprinting on toddlers. I don't think it is necessary, though it made Jacob's story more interesting.
Now, say you are watching Return of the King, and all the Riders of Rohan and the armies of Gondor all line all and are all ready to fight the forces of Mordor. You are super pumped for an epic battle with lots of death and destruction. And then Aaragorn and Gandolf go and talk Sauron out of fighting. That is how Breaking Dawn ends. All the build up for no battle.
But none the less I did enjoy the book and the entire Twilight series. I can't say I have a favorite book, just favorite moments. On of those moments being the gathering of all of the vampires from around the world. That was great.

Scorpion Woman

LOST-1/21-Because You Left/The Lie

Holy Crap! What a great way to start of the second to last season of LOST. Starting off with Dr. Marvin Candle filming a Dharma video sometime in the past, we see Daniel Faraday working for Dharma. Let the gigantic Mind-F^^k begin.

The Oceanic Survivors and the science team from the freighter are traveling through various points in time on the island. Alpert and the rest of the Others do not travel through time, but Alpert realizes that Locke is, and gives him a compass that seems to be the one from when Alpert gave Locke a Buddist Test.
Lawyers appear at Kate's house in 2007 to take blood samples from both her and Aaron. This causes her to leave and go find Sun. Who sent the lawyers to Kate's house?
Jack and Ben need to get everyone from the island back to the island. Kate and Sun are now together, though it appears they are under watch of Charles Widmore. Hurley and Sayid are together, but Sayid took a couple of darts to the back and is now a vegetable. Hurley is accused of murdering three people, and instead of going with Ben and making things easy, he gives himself over to the LAPD.
Faraday finds the past Desmond, and tells him he needs to find his mother at Oxford. Desmond wakes up in the future, now remembering this, and tells Penny they need to go to Oxford.
Dr. Candle lives on the island in the past, and he seems to have a healthy baby with an alive wife.
Best line: "Why is there a dead Pakistani on my couch?"
Hurley spills the beans to his mom about the island, and she tells him she believes him.
Ben is told he has 70 hours to bring the Oceanic 6 back to the island. Is the show now going to be like 24 set in real time?
The woman who tells Ben he has 70 hours is the woman who sold Desmond his engagement ring from the episode where Desmond was flashing in and out of time.

Twilight 2

Spoilers On

So I enjoyed Twilight and its sequel, New Moon. Eclipse, the third in the series, was the obvious next book. Where Twilight deals with Bella’s relationship with Edward and New Moon deals with Edward’s absence and Bella’s friendship with Jacob, Eclipse deals with the confrontation of the two. Of course, Edward is a vampire and Jacob is a werewolf, and they happen to be mortal enemies. By now, Edward and Bella are madly in love and Bella wants to become a vampire. Jacob’s friendship with Bella has made Jacob fall in love her. And, of course, an evil vampire named Victoria has developed an army of young vampires to raid the town of Forks and kill Bella.

Now, the story line did not bother me. I enjoyed the build-up to the battle and for the most part the battle itself.

What bothered me was the way that Jacob turned out. Jacob is in love with Bella, but Bella made it clear that she was in love with Edward. Jacob wasn’t about to take “no” for an answer. His actions are borderline assault. After forcing her to kiss him, and then getting into her sleeping bag, he tells her that if she does not choose him he will run into the battle and have himself killed.

Now, two things bug me:

A) Edward did not rip Jacobs jaw off and then force him to choke on it.

B) Bella, still loving Edward, played with Jacob’s emotions and basically gave him the idea that she could leave Edward and choose him.

As much as I grew to hate Jacob, I really started to dislike Bella. Actually, I really hate Bella. I feel she is begging for constant attention and companionship. And it is annoying. Even though Jacob is turning into a sexual deviant, she still needs his friendship and does not want to let him go.

Now, I used to think Edward was creepy and controlling, and now I feel that Edward is very classy. He should have every right to rip off Jacob’s arm and beat him to death with it, but he stays calm and collective. Even though Bella is too eager to lose her virginity (which Meyer goes out of her way to not say by name), Edward sticks to his morals and holds off her advances, making deals of his own to hold off Bella’s need to become a vampire.

I still enjoyed the book itself, but I was not a fan of the character development.

Twilight

Twilight.

When my cousin got married this summer in St. Louis, I decided to walk over to the Borders across from our hotel around 11:00 at night. I knew Border stores were open late, but I thing had not crossed my mind. It was August seventh, and at midnight the fourth book in the Twilight series, Breaking Dawn, was to be released. To get to the Graphic Novel section I had to adventure through the different covens of high school girls dressed all in black, camped out so they could be the first to read the newest adventure of Edward and Bella. I knew the feeling from the Harry Potter days. I picked up a couple copies of New Avengers, used my Borders Rewards card, and started on my way out, hoping that I would not have my blood drained by the floor full of vampire wannabe’s. An older worker with a bag full of buttons caught my attention. He was handing out buttons to the campers that read, “I was bitten by Breaking Dawn.” I snuck into the crowd of girls and was handed a button. As I walked out with my button, I told myself that I would not read Twilight. I would not be sucked into the cult.

That was August 7^th, 2008.

January 7^th 2009 I drank the Kool Aid and started reading Twilight. It is now January 13^th, almost a week later, and I just finished New Moon.

What happened to me? I am now halfway through this tale of Vampires that I promised myself that I would not read. Because they are actually good. Of course the books have faults, but still. The first thing I like is how Stephanie Meyer has taken the myth of the Vampire and the Werewolf and made them more real-life. Gone are the crosses and coffins, garlic, wooden stakes, bats, full moons, and as far as I can tell, silver bullets. The same basic myths apply. The Vampires are basically immortal. They drink blood and are “undead.” Beside the mythology, the book is well written. Meyer captures emotion very well. The story is a love story and every emotion is very descriptive. But, even though the emotion is captured well, other story elements were fast and not as drawn out. It might just be me, but the fight scenes and chase sequences could use a lot more detail. And it seemed that characters were thrown into sudden peril. Were it seems it most books the amount of danger gradually builds; in Twilight it seems that everyone is hopping around la la la and then you turn the page and they are racing the clock for their lives.

Even with its faults I have found myself given my full attention to this book. I want to know what will happen to Edward and Bella, and now Jacob. But with the first book about her falling for a vampire, and the second almost falling for a werewolf, I am half expecting the third to involve a trip to Egypt to met the Mummy, and then running into Frankenstein’s monster. That would cover all the Universal movie monsters. But seriously, I am finding myself excited to pick up the third book, when just five months ago I had sworn myself off of them completely. I have drunk the Twilight Kool Aid, and I like it.

Mannequin

I recently acquired the coolest thing ever: a mannequin from Steve and Berry's. The Steve and Berry's in the Quad Cities is going out of business, and Aaron Wells and I both picked up mannequin's. In order to get mannequin's that we could bring home day of, we had to follow one of the workers into a back room full of mannequin's that was like Jefferey Dahmer's basement. An arm there, a torso there. As we were leaving, Aaron carrying the top of a female mannequin, myself carrying the top of a male, a small boy was being lead by his mother. He asked, "Mommy, what are they doing with those?" She replied, "That's none of our business now, is it honey?"
The mannequin is now in the window of my dorm room, dressed. Every now and again it startles me or scares the crap out of me. Sometimes I catch it's reflection in my TV like the alien at the end of Signs.

Elf

Released in 2003, Elf became an instant Christmas classic. Will Ferrell plays Buddy, a man who was raised by Elves after he was accidentally taken by Santa as a baby. The story plays almost as an alien first experiencing human culture. Buddy heads to New York to find his father, (James Caan) and meets his new family (Mary Steenburgen.) Of course Buddy falls in love, with a department store employee (Zooey Deschanel), and ends up having to help save Christmas and help Santa(Ed Asner).

What I like about Elf is that when I am older it will be considered my generation’s holiday classic.

How the Grinch Stole Christmas

Narrated by the great Boris Karloff, Dr. Seuss’s how the Grinch Stole Christmas is a great adaptation of the book. Of course they made a live action movie staring Jim Carrey, but it does not compare with the original. The Grinch lives in a mountain near Whoville, and is not a fan of the Who’s yearly Christmas celebration. He dresses as Santa Claus and takes his faithful dog Max, and goes to steal Christmas. Of course he has a change of heart at the end and becomes a friend of the Who’s.

A Christmas Story

The definitive Christmas classic. So much so, that TBS runs it for 24 hours straight on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. There are so many iconic scenes. Flick sticking his tongue to a pole. Randy not able to put his arms down in his snowsuit. Ralphie with soap in his mouth. The old man getting his award. Santa pushing Ralphie down the slide. The pink bunny suit. The turkey with its head still on. I know that I will watch it a least once during the 24 hour marathon.

Home Alone

Some might not consider the adventures of Kevin McCallister a Christmas movie, but it is. Kevin’s family goes to Paris for Christmas, and accidentally leaves Kevin at home. Two house burglars, the Wet Bandits Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern, plan to rob the McCallister’s house, but they don’t realize Kevin is inside and has a bag of tricks up his sleeve. The film is loaded with great quotable lines and is always a fun watch.

Christmas Vacation

My absolute favorite Christmas movie and one of my favorite comedies. Chevy Chase plays Clarke Griswald wants to have the ideal family Christmas. Of course everything goes wrong. Like A Christmas Story, this movie has iconic scenes. The house covered in lights. Uncle Eddie(played by the hilarious Randy Quaid). The cat being electrocuted. The giant Christmas tree. The Christmas tree on fire. The squirrel running through the house. The sled ride. The police breaking through the house. Every line in the movie is quotable and hilarious.

So, in Texas, a 4 year old boy left his home in the middle of the night and broke in to a Family Dollar store in order to play with the toys.
First of all, a 4 year old broke into a Family Dollar store.
Second, I still wish I could leave my house in the middle of the night to play in a toy aisle. That would be the coolest thing ever.

It looks like the parents might be in trouble for this one, but I hope everything turns out alright. I feel bad for the manager of the store who is probley now unemployed.

I do not own one pair of jeans. I only wear khaki’s. One time, when I was in Cedar Rapids, I tried on a pair of jeans and Erin took a picture of me in them. It can be found on my Facebook.

My favorite foods are Circus Peanuts, 2% Milk, Grilled Cheese and Tomato Soup, Angelo’s Pizza, Giordano’s Pizza, Oreo Fluff, Scotcharoos, Apple Pie, Lasagna, Homemade Macaroni and Cheese, and a good Bacon Cheeseburger. I have very particular tastes and there are a lot of foods I do not eat. I do not use condiments and usually won’t put syrup on Pancakes.

I am going to school to become a History Teacher, but my dream job would be making Documentaries. I would love to be a film maker who brings important things to the forefront. Or, I would love to be like Barbara Walters, someone who ask people tough questions, but people still want to talk to me.

Due to my hearing loss I am not a fan of talking on the phone. I would rather text, message, of talk face to face with someone. Also due to my hearing loss I have a hard time controlling the volume of my voice, and I cannot locate were sounds are coming from.

Though I was a very vocal supporter of Barack Obama, I do not consider myself a Democrat. I don’t consider myself a Republican either. I think that the government needs to change depending on the times, and having a one track mind does little to help this. Some other politicians I enjoy are Jim Webb, Chris Dodd, and Chuck Hagel.

I like to plan things out way ahead of time just in case. I already know who my groomsman would be if I were to ever get married. (Ankit, Aaron, Marty, Casey) and I know who I would want my pallbearers would be if something was to ever happen to me. (Chad Jensen, Grant Wells, Rich Matzen, Phil Cunningham, Keith Nylin, and John Knoble)

I have noticed recently that I have been repeating words a lot, and I think I have discovered the origin. This summer at work I would stop in to the lunch ladies and say, “Good morning, good morning.” Because there was two lunch ladies. And from that it has stemmed that I repeat words.

The two things hygiene-wise that I am the most concentrated on are my teeth and my hair. I probably brush my teeth about five times a day, sometimes more, usually every time I leave the building. I use shampoo and conditioner on my hair and both are for brunettes. Dyeing my hair pink senior year was the worst thing for my hair. The bleaching killed its texture and it took a while for it to go back to normal.

I own probley 250+ DVDs. I have most of them in my dorm room. If I get a movie that is part of a series, I need to have the full series. If I get one James Bond movie, I need to have them all. I love TV on DVD almost more then when it is on TV. I sometimes buy DVDs before I have seen the movie, especially if its in the five dollar bin.

I am trying to be more green, though it is not working out the best right now, it is something I hope to get better on. I am not going to be Ed Begley Jr., but I will be better then I am now.

I am also trying to live healthier. I have stopped drinking soda, and I eat little candy and sugar. Another thing I hope to get better on in the near future.

If I could have dinner with five dead people: Groucho Marx, Andy Warhol, Tim Russert, Teddy Roosevelt, Lee Harvey Oswald (I would ask him if he did it and what not.)

I don’t really believe in aliens, but I feel that we need to get attacked by aliens because it would be the only thing that could bring our country together. Watchmen-style.

I hope that when I die, people (presumable a grandchild) continue to bring it to places and around the world. It needs to continue on. And if I ever get cancer or something, it would be cool to turn it into a symbol. Lance Armstrong-style.

I honestly feel that this is the best time in American history to live. I think that we are at the center of American history and America only has about two hundred and fifty to three hundred years. I hope I live until the Tri-centennial in 2076.

I have not eaten at a McDonalds since I saw Super Size Me in 2004. The only exception is when I was in Poland I had a Royal with Cheese just to say I did. The overload of grease to my system made me sick.

My Friend

They say that everyone makes mistakes, but what does that mean? You always hear it, but you never really think that the mistake would be this. I guess you could turn that into “Everybody sins.” And even though you know that everyone sins, it still is a shock when you find out about it.

Jim Young is like a brother to me. I have watched his kids grow up. Every piece of good advice I have ever received has been from him, and he saved me from entering a deep depression. I owe a lot to that man. I owe everything to that man.

I glad I heard about it from Jacie Turner. Jacie has become like an aunt to me, and the news wasn’t as hard coming from her. One of my first reaction was how could he do this when he has friends like me and Casey who look up to him so much, but I cannot believe that I was that selfish. I thought of Trisha, and the boys, and one of my best friends who is in a world of hurt. I couldn’t process the news right away, but when I did I didn’t take it as hard as I thought I would. When I came to terms with the news and wanted to be with him. I wanted to be by his side and tell him that I am not going to judge him, and I will be with his side all the time. Of course I could not be with him, but I sent him a text reading, “I love you like a brother. I am your friend and I will always support you.” I wanted to make sure that he knew he still had my support.

Should you feel mad? Sure. Should you feel confused? Sure. Whatever you feel now is okay, but you need to hold your head high. It is time for all of us to be there for the man who has always been there for us. It is not a time to gossip and spread rumors about a subject that none of us understand. He still has me in his corner and I will never leave. I will always support my friend, my brother. I am always there for Trisha and the boys. Sin can always be forgiven, and every problem has a solution, every illness has a treatment. It is now time for us to control the future. We need to take control of this situation as well as we can. Stopping gossip, stopping rumors, stopping jokes. Whatever needs to be done. I am going to stand up for my friend. I do not agree with what he did, but I will not give up on him. He is still a good man and I will still live by the lessons he taught me. I am standing up for him and am in his corner and I encourage everyone else to do the same. Sin can be forgiven.

Why I Left the Republican Party

I am sitting here the day after Sen. Barack Obama has before President-elect Obama, the first African American President of the United States. I’ve worked very hard to make sure this day would come, but if anyone knew me six years ago, they would not think that I would be celebrating a Democratic victory last night. The Andy Green of six years ago would not believe that the first time he voted for President he would vote for Barack Obama, let alone support him along the entire path. The Andy Green of six years ago would most likely have voted for John McCain. I was a Republican, and pretty hardcore. I really liked Howard Dean, but felt that President Bush needed to be re-elected and would be able to fix whatever problems he had started. Our country did not get better. It did not get better at all, it got worse. As our country changed I changed, I began to realize how bad our country was getting and how President Bush has not helped out anything. I began to realize that the current Republican Party is not what America needs. The current Republican party is not the party of Lincoln, its not the party of Roosevelt, and its making its way to not being the party of Reagan. I have now left the Republican Party and have no plans to return unless major change happens. I don’t consider myself a Democrat, I will be an Independent, but I want to say why I have left the Republican Party and what I feel it can do to heal itself.

I think the Republican Party is a bully. If you don’t support the war, you are un-patriotic. Everyone needs to be gushing red white and blue out of every pour. I feel that everyone should be proud of our country, but I understand if you are not, or have a hard time doing so. I understand if you do not support the war in Iraq, a war we were lied into, a war with no cause. If you do not support the war, it does not make you un-patriotic. It is our right as an American to have our own thoughts, and the Republicans should know that. The Republican party is a bully in its recent campaigning. The Karl Rove-way of politics is to take one of the main things an opponent has and turn it against them. They tried to turn the smart Al Gore into an idiot, the tried to turn the war hero John Kerry into a war criminal; they tried to turn the great American Barack Obama into an un-patriotic, terrorist-supporting socialist with anti-American views. The Republican Party is a bully. If you don’t agree with the Republican Party you are almost looked as less of a person in Republican’s eyes. This really bothers me. There was nothing in Sen. Obama’s plan that says he is a Socialist. But that is grounded into people, and instead of using your plans for the future against your opponent, the Republicans use attacks on character. Attacking everyone’s character. If someone supports abortion, why would you label them as a baby-killer before asking why they support it? If someone is against the war, why would you label them un-patriotic before asking why they are against it? Why is it wrong for someone to have a different point of view then you, and why is it your responsibility to pick at their character? The Republican Party needs to stop the negative attacks and attacks on character. Let’s build up instead of tear down. If the Republican Party wants me back, they will stop these pointless attacks on everyone who does not think like them.

The Republican Party has positioned themselves as the party of God, and if you are not part of the Republican Party you are against God. I had a Republican McCain supporter tell me that I was less of a Christian of supporting Sen. Obama. How dare Republican’s hand me my judgment. If I did not feel what I was doing was right, I would not do it. The person who judged me did not ask me why I was supporting Sen. Obama. I did not get a chance to tell him I was Pro-Life, he judged me right there. When John Mataya and I were canvassing in Minnesota on Groundhog Day, a woman was telling us about how she was a born again Christian and because of that she could not support a Democrat. I am appalled by this. God told us to love your neighbor as you would love yourself. Joan Jett made an interesting point in our conversation. She said that God’s judgment is up to God, and people should not try to do it for him because they are trying to do something that only He can do. Republicans tried to tag Sen. Obama as a Muslim, and then tried to say that he has a radical preacher. So what if someone is a Muslim. I would vote for a Muslim, I would vote for a Jew. Those Religions are based on historical fact. If a candidate belonged to a cult, like Mormonism or Scientology, I would have a lot harder time voting for them, if they got my vote at all, i.e. Mitt Romney. God is the God of everyone, not just Republican’s. He loves us all, and we are not less of a Christian is we support a Democrat, and that is not for you to decide. The Party still needs to love and believe in God, but they cannot have any claim that they are the Party of God, and cannot act as if they are. The party needs to accept the views of everyone. If the Republican Party wants me back they need to learn that, and make it so. I hope this does not sound Anti-God, because it is not that at all.

I have a hard time believing in some of the Republican parties views that seem very narrow minded. The first being gun rights. I believe in the second amendment, but I do not think the second amendment says that we cannot regulate gun ownership and ban the sale of automatic weapons. I believe you should be able to hunt, but you do not hunt deer with an AK-47. There is no need for automatic weapons to be on the market. Why do you need to own one anyway? I do not like that Sen. Obama has been scrutinized for wanting to talk with foreign leaders without pre-conditions. Why is it wrong to try and talk things out? Who are we to tell Castro that we can only talk if he frees all the political prisoners? We need to talk things out and have good foreign policy again. The world looks at America as a warmongering nation and that needs to end.

This is just a couple of the bigger reasons why I have left the party. I do feel that the election of Sen. Obama is a good thing for the Republican’s. The Party should lay low for the next eight years, yes eight years. They need to review and revise their issues. Look over everything and cut out the hate. The Party needs new leadership. Reagan conservatives are on the decline, and it is time for change. Take people like Charlie Crist and Bobby Jindal. Give the younger blood a chance. But the answer is not Sarah Palin. Sarah Palin is the past, and when need to look for the future. The only Republicans that will continue to have my support are Mike Wolf and Chuck Grassley. We as a country need to look toward the future. Someday, I might return to the Republican Party, and I will even support candidates here and there, but I have left the Republican Party of today, and am waiting for the Republican Party of the future.

Why I am Voting for Barack Obama

I feel it is the mission of every Presidential administration to leave the world better then what you found it. The people like and can trust the government, we are not in too much debt, our overall standing in the world is good, and the biggest story on the evening news is not the seventh seal being pulled. But now, after eight years, tax breaks for the wealthy, No Child Left Behind, 9-11, Hurricane Katrina, a war in Afghanistan, a war in Iraq, numerous human rights violations, and the biggest economic crisis since Hoover, America has a horrible standing in the world and had lost the trust of its citizens. I feel it is time for a change, and that is why I am voting for Barack Obama.

Sen. Obama wants to give the middle class a tax break, and reverse the Bush tax cuts. Sen. McCain has been telling people that Sen. Obama will raise everyone’s taxes, but it is not true, only the taxes of roughly the top ten percent. The fact is, the top ten percent, (people like Warren Buffet, Cindy McCain, and the numerous celebrities that have endorsed Sen. Obama), can afford paying more taxes without affecting their state of living. The fact is people like my parents that have two kids in college, are trying to pay off their house, are paying off a couple of cars, and have to work three jobs in order to continue being able to afford things, people like my parents will have a tax break, that will give them a little bit of help paying their bills and buying food. Another thing that will help is Sen. Obama wants to help everyone get through college, so if everyone can do four years of public service, the Government will help make sure you can pay for school. John McCain would like to call paying taxes Socialism, but that is not the case at all. Taxes are a form of “spreading the wealth around,” but that spreading is what pays for roads, police officers, teachers, and fireman. How can you not say that paying taxes is patriotic? We have a ten-TRILLION dollar national debt, and Sen. McCain doesn’t want to tell anyone taxes will be raised, of course taxes will be raised no matter who is the next president. Sen. Obama will even tell us that we have to help out, he can’t do it himself. He is brave enough to tell us the truth. For finances, that is why I am voting for Barack Obama.

The war in Iraq is a disaster. It is the worst act of foreign policy ever. There were no weapons of mass destruction. There is no blueprint for the war. No ending strategy, no definition of success. We invaded a country we had no beef with. There was no connection between Saddam Hussein and 9-11. We were lied to by our administration, and that is a fact. Now our soldiers have died. The same people that label themselves “pro-life” have sent young Americans overseas for death and destruction. Death of Americans, death of Iraqis. Sen. Obama knew the war was a bad idea before we went in and spoke out against it. We need to bring the troops home before more die, and we need to begin to clean our image in the world’s eyes. Barack Obama gave a speech in front of 200,000 Europeans who were waving American flags. Sen. Obama will end torture at Gitmo. Instead of fighting for oil, Sen. Obama will start transitions into environmentally friendly forms of energy, like solar, wind and hydroelectric. We are fighting two wars, have a horrible reputation in the world, and are on the verge of a second cold war. Sen. Obama is not afraid to sit down with world leaders and talk things out. For foreign policy, that is why I am voting for Barack Obama.

The first decision a president had to make is picking a Vice President. Sen. Obama picked Sen. Joe Biden. Joe Biden has been part of the Senate since before John McCain. He has experience in foreign policy. Sen. Biden is still a Washington outsider, continuing to live in Delaware and commuting everyday. Sen. McCain, who is 72, picked Sarah Palin, the Governor of Alaska. Sarah Palin has been Governor less then John McCain has been running for President. She has no foreign policy expierince, does not know what the Bush Doctrine is, and has abused her power as Governor with the Troopergate scandal. Though Joe Biden sometimes puts his foot in his mouth, that is better then Sarah Palin, who never goes away from the same talking points and does not do interviews. If something happens to Sen. Obama we know our country is in good hands with Joe Biden. If something happens to Sen. McCain we don’t know what will happen with this woman. For common sense, I am voting for Barack Obama.

Honestly.
When John McCain was about to announce his running mate I really thought he was going to go with Romney or Liberman. Pawlenty maybe, and at a stretch Jindal or Crist.
But no, we got this woman.

Of course no one knew who she is and I was genuinely surprised.
She is the Governor of a Red State with only 3 electoral votes. She has no foreign policy experience, has never been on the national scene, and in under indictment. Now, not only has McCain lost his experience argument against Obama, now he has lost his celebrity argument. McCain had a hard time filling rooms with his appearences. Now he has people lined up around the block. Are people actually going to vote for him now just because this woman is his VP.
The campaign is now releasing full blown lies and are defending themselves with them. She was for the Bridge to Nowhere when she said she wasn't. The cook she said she fired still works for them. Her private jet was not sold on Ebay.
Now, the campaign is actually saying that Barack Obama called Sarah Palin a pig.
This is so rediculous that if I think about it too long I pretty sure my head will explode like that guy in Scanners. What I worry about, is that this woman could actually be our next Vice President. Even though Barack Obama has not been on the national scene that long, he has written two books on his life and the kitchen sink has come out since he started his campaign. We know nothing about this woman and what will come out after she gets the job. Do people realize that she supported having rape victims pay for there medical examinations. She goes to a church where they speak in tongues and has spoken from the pulpit within the last 4 months, and yet people give Obama crap because the Minister he knows said stupid crap from the pulpit. There is just so much crap that has come out in the last three weeks that it is ridiculous.
I haven't even mentioned that her 17 year old daughter is pregnant. Now, I know that kids need to be left out of the picture. But, I feel children are the best reflection of a person parenting, and when this woman is trying to show that we need abstinence-only education and yet her own daughter gets knocked up in high school. I find a problem with that.
This woman is not what America needs right now.

The morning after.
Okay, so you pulled threw with Indiana, but you were blown out of the water in North Carolina. And now, this morning, you say you will not back down and have put 6 million dollars of your own money into your campaign. Adding the 5 million you already put in, that makes 11 million dollars of your money that you have put into your campaign. That would be like repainting the Titanic after it already struck the Iceburg. You know what I could do with 11 million dollars? I would but the copyright to Mr. Potato Head, and produce Andy Green Mr. Potato Heads. Barack Obama is barely worth 1 million dollars, and you have the balls to call him an elitist.
You have already passed your mark to back down with grace. You have started a schism within the party that will need from now until to November to heal.
What I find funny, is that you sent your little carrot, Bill, into North Carolina to even shake hands with the voters going to the polls, and you still lost by almost twenty percent. You are now almost to the point where the Superdelegates can't even save you.
Now where is John McCain during all of this. He is giving speeches and gathering support like a Presidential Canidate. Trying to prove he is the best one for Republicans. You have Republicans voting for you so that John McCain has a better chance in November. If that is not a reason to drop out, I don't know what else is.

An Open Letter to Hillary Clinton

Hi. I don't know if you remember me, but we met at an event in Clinton, Iowa. You took a photo with my Mr. Potato Head. Anyway...
Today is a big day for you. Indiana and North Carolina are both going to the polls to try and deciede between you and Sen. Obama. So far, Sen. Obama is ahead in the polls and you have been trying to close the gap. The problem is, is that Indiana and North Carolina are not on the list of the states that you have labeled the "Big States" that you want to be President of. Hillary Clinton, President of the Big States. Growing up in Iowa, I have not been priveledged to grow up in a big state, and according to you, don't know what I'm doing when it comes to politics. Yet, you and your competitors spent a year here campaigning. We mattered to you until you came in third.
I just have a couple things I would like to address with you. First, and I think everyone wants to know, after the Texas/Ohio primaries you were told that it was not possible for you to get the nomination even if you were to win the rest of the states and have Michigan and Florida reinstated. Now, John Edwards knew when it was he time to back out and help the party. Even Mitt Romney knew when to back out to help his party. They both still had a little bit of a chance when they backed out. You have been told there is no way, and yet you have stayed in, with noticeible divide in the party. You have made viscious attacks agaist Sen. Obama and have played McCain's game for him. In an election the Republicans have handed you, you have turned that around. Now you make up some BS excuse about how you want the people to vote and state their opinion. Yet, you know that in the long run, it will still come out that more people want Sen. Obama to be President.
One of my biggest problems with your campaign is the insistance that the delegates from Michigan and Florida need to be reinstated. First of all, you didn't follow the rules and put your name on the ballot when none of the other canidates would. Now you have put up a big fuss about how they need to count, and you know that if the tables were turned you would be against it. And now every time you release a delegate count or vote count you include those votes, and you are the only people that do. You need to lay off of it and actually follow the rules. I'm sorry, but the rules do apply to the Clinton family.
This is only the first letter Mrs. Clinton. More are going to follow.

LOST-5/2 Something Nice Back Home

I wrote a synapses for this episode, but it got erased and I am too lazy to write another one. Basically Jack had his appendix taken out by Juliet and Bernard. Charlotte knows Korean, and Faraday likes her. The mercenaries survived the smoke monster and are leaving the island. Claire wakes up in the middle of the night and finds Christian holding Aaron. In the future, Jack and Kate are living together and are engaged. Jack sees Christian at the Hospital. Hurley continues to get visits from Charlie.

Some things I noticed:

The smoke detector went off when Christian came. Could he be the smoke monster

Does Jack have and appendix scar in the future?
Does Jack know Aaron is his nephew? He told Kate that Aaron wasn't even related to her.

IRON MAN

There has been a surge of superhero films lately. There have been good ones,(SpiderMan, X2, Batman Begins.) But there have been way too many bad ones,(SpiderMan 3, Fantastic Four 2, Daredevil, the list goes on and on.) But now there is a movie that tops them all, IRON MAN.
Robert Downey Jr. stars as Tony Stark, a billionaire playboy industrialist who majors in weapons manufactoring. Downey does an amazing job as Stark. Recently in the comics, Stark has become a jerk and government lackey. Downey brings Stark back to his playboy pretty boy self who has a sarcastic remark for everything.
Gwyneth Paltrow plays Pepper Potts, Starks assisstant and mild love interest. Paltrow does okay as the damsel in distress who is at the right place at the right time. Terrence Howard plays Jim Rhodes who in the comics becomes War Machine. Howard does a great job as Stark's number two and his only real friend. Rhodes did not have as much airtime as I would have liked, but Howard did the best with it. Jeff Bridges played the films villlain, the Iron Monger. Bridges was wickedly evil, but I could only see him as the Dude. John Faverau cameos as Happy Hogan, and Jarvis, Stark's Alfred-esque butler, is portrayed as an omnipresent robot.
The films action was awesome and not full of crappy CGI like most action movies. And the levels of story and action were a perfect even. And of course the film set up a sequel. The Mandarin was hinted at, and Rhodes with the Mach II armor laid the steps for War Machine.
This was one of the best superhero/action movies I have seen, and it would not have been that way without Downey. Everyone should see this.

Little Rascals

So I am watching the early 90's classic Little Rascals and I have some problems with it.
First off, you have a group of about twenty boys who live in a blatantly sexist society, and their parents seem to be okay with it. Once their clubhouse burns down they do not have enough money to rebuild it, but how did the clubhouse get their in the first place? Where was the budget for this? Not only do they have a house, they have a car! Not only do they have a car, but these boys who think they can get a bank loan by standing on each other's soldiers are smart enough to assemble a new and fully functional car out of random spare parts.
The story takes place in about a weeks time, yet Darla can meet a random rich kid on the street and fall in love with him. The whole concept of eight-year olds experiencing love aside, I think this is an example of a woman going after a man only because he has money.
Plus, the rich kid not only drives a go cart with an industrial rocket on the back, it also has serrated blades that he is not afraid to use against his enemies.
The movie teaches boys that it is okay to dress up in a leotard and sneak in to the girls dressing room. It also teaches boys that it is okay to beat up the bully instead of working out your differences.
I also noticed some very adult-oriented jokes. When asked how he stopped a girl from handing over at his house, Froggy tells the guys he whipped out his lizard. This sounds like sexual harassment to me, but we find out that he actually showed her a live lizard, and not his manhood. Alfalfa's hair pops up as if erect when kissed by Darla. This kinda bothered me, I don't think I have to explain why.

Even though the movie is full of sexism, adult innuendo, cross dressing, impossibility, and underage loving aside, I really enjoy this movie.

LOST-4/24 The Shape of Things to Come

BEST LOST EVER!
Alex has been captured by armed mercenaries. They have her type in the code for the electro-fence thing.
Locke, Sawyer, and Hurley with Aaron are playing a nice game of RISK when the phone rings and says CODE 14J. Ben is playing the piano when Locke comes and tells him. Ben reacts by pulling a shotgun out of the piano bench. He says that people are coming to kill them and they need to fortify in the house. Sawyer leaves to get Claire. On his way, the mercenaries start shooting, killing the Red Shirt castaways living with them. Sawyer ducks behind tables and fences and sees a missile hit Claire's house blowing it up. Somehow Claire survives and Sawyer gets her back to the house. The doorbell rings and it is Miles. He has a walkey talkey the mercenaries have given him. Ben won't leave the house even though they have Alex. They shoot Alex in the back of the head. Ben summons the smoke monster to kill the mercenaries in possibly the coolest scene in the history of LOST. The Locke group retreats into the woods and split up again. Locke, Ben, and Hurley go to look for Jacob.
Back on the beach, Vincent finds a body in the water. Faraday reveals it is the freighter's doctor. They contact the boat to ask about the doctor. The boat replies in Morse code and Faraday tells them that rescue is coming for them. Surprise! Bernard knows Morse code and says Faraday lied and the boat said the doctor is fine. Jack attacks Faraday and has Faraday admit they did not come to rescue them. Jacks appendix explodes.
In the Flashforward, Ben is in Tunisia and Iraq. He notices one of Widmore's men at a funeral. One of the pallbearers is Sayid. The funeral is for Nadia, Sayid's wife. Ben tells Sayid that the man he is following killed Nadia. The man confronts Ben and Sayid kills him. Sayid will now help Ben kill Widmore's people, like in Sayid's flashforward. Ben goes to Widmore's house and wakes him up in the middle of the night. He tells him that he is going to kill Penny since he killed Alex. Widmore says he wants the island.

Questions:

What happened to Ben in the future that he looks confused and doesn't know the year?
What is happening with Widmore's nightmares?
Why does the freighter tell them the doctor is fine?

Pennsylvania

Last night was the Primary in Pennsylvania. Hillary Clinton won at a 9.2 percent margin. That was better then the 25 percent margin Barack Obama was losing by six weeks ago. Now Hillary Clinton is saying that she has received more votes then any candidate ever. The math doesn't add up, but she is counting Michigan and Florida. The problem with that is two things. 1) The votes don't count, 2)She was the only candidate on the ballet. Again, campaigning and putting your name on the ballet in those states was against the rules. I don't understand where that is hard for her to grasp. Obama, Edwards, Richardsen, Biden, and Dodd all figured that one out. Another problem with her math is that four states including Iowa are not included in the final popular vote tally. Of the other three Obama won two.

Colbert tonight said it best when he compared the Clinton Campaign to the War in Iraq.
She goes in expecting to be treated as a liberator with initial success.
She is hit by opposing forces that hit harder then expected.
She has repeated requests for with drawl.
People who supported at first now don't.
Now she has a surge that has sorted worked, but is still widely unpopular.

Another thing that has come out of Pennsylvania is polling that says people will vote for McCain if Hillary is not the nominee. Pundents and the Clinton Campaign are now trying to use this to lure voters and Superdelegates. Do they not realize there are 49 more states out there? There are more voices then the ones in Pennsylvania, and those voices have called for and will continue calling for Barack Obama.

John Edwards appeared on tonights episode of the Colbert Report. Colbert has been in Philedalphia all week for the Pennsylvannia Primary on Tuesday. Hillary Clinton made a brief appearence, and Barack made an appearance via satelitte, but the highlight of the show was Edwards. Her came out to do The Word, and changed it to the EdWord. The topic was about white make voters and their importance. Of course the most sought after white male is John Edwards. Edwards used this to take about his issues. He said he can't go against Obama because he doesn't want to seem Anti-Hope. He said he can't go against Clinton because he is scarred James Carville will bite him. He wants a Jet Ski so him and Elizabeth can go out on the ocean, and he wants to be a spy. Edwards would also like his face on money. I don't think he was really asking to much.
But really, John Edwards needs his own show. He had a good presence. What I'm thinking, next year Conan gets Jay's job so that leaves a slot open. Enter Edwards.

Deomcratic Debate- 4/16

Hillary Clinton's whole campaign and basis for staying in the race is that Barack Obama can not win against John McCain in November. So, the surprise moment of the night was when Hillary was asked if Barack could beat McCain and she said, "Yes, yes, yes." Not one yes, three yeses.
I missed the first hour of the debate due to Glee Club Practice, but I got the gist of the campaign. Debates are supposed to sit a situation on the table and the candidates go over what they would do in that situation. The way this debate went was tell Barack Obama all of the things that the Clinton campaign has said he did wrong and have him defend himself. And yet, all of the critics are saying that Barack came out better.
Barack made the "bitter" comment a week ago and he really has yet to receive a big fall out from it. He still has received Superdelegates support when she has not. His poll numbers are doing a lot better in Pennsylvania and way ahead of her in Indiana, North Carolina, and Nationally. All of Hillary's campaigning in Pennsylvania is based around that comment showing that she is running a negative campaign. And The Boss himself Bruce Springsteen has announced his support for Barack. Even if Barack loses in Pennsylvania, people will need to look at the margin of votes and then look at the margin a month ago. He was down by around thirty a month ago and has made up that gap. Without running a negative campaign and with all the controversy with the bitter comment and Rev. Wright.

The Pope

One of my favorite late night hosts is the one that I can't watch, Bill Maher. Bill Maher host a show every Friday night on HBO called Real Time. Maher is a known Atheist and a frequent critic of all religion. And this week two big events in religion occur, a polygamist compound raid, and the Pope's first visit to America. Of course Maher had to comment on that:

"I'd like to tip off law enforcement to an even larger child-abusing religious cult. Its leader also has a compound, and this guy not only operates outside the bounds of the law, but he used to be a Nazi and he wears funny hats. That's right, the Pope is coming to America this week and, ladies, he's single."

And now Bill O'Reilly and members of the Catholic League are mad a Maher now for calling the Pope a Nazi and the rest of his comment. Well lets dissect it.
Child Abusing- Priests have molested alter-boys
Compound-The Pope does live in his own country
Operates outside the bounds of Law-The Priest really didn't get in to much trouble for molesting alter boys, and the Church gets away with a lot more then a major company would.
He's a Nazi- Pope Benedict was a member of the Hitler Youth, he was not an actual Nazi, and you can argue that he was only doing it because he was a child. But at one time he did wear a swastika.
Funny Hats- Come on.
So all Maher did was take fact, and put it into a humerous sentance.

Okay, now lets take a look at the Pope.

Now lets look at Emperor Palpatine, one of the most evil characters in cinema.

All the Pope needs is a cool laser sword. Maybe he can use his Hitler Youth Knife.
Oh crap, did he just compare the Pope to Emperor Palpatine? Only by looks, for right now.
My take on the Pope. I have nothing against Benedict, unless he doesn't take a photo with my Potato. I feel the very fact of having a Pope goes against what Christ was trying to say. He had a problem with the Jewish leaders because they were using God as basically a way to show off themselves. He knew that no one man could speak for the word of God. Christ did not wear robes or a stupid hat. Christ rode on a donkey, not a "Christ-Mobile." Christ did not have his own country.
Christ said, "Go and make disciples that make disciples." The Great Commission. How did that turn into, Go and make a city of beauty and statues. Build a leadership-system of Cardinals and Bishops and Priests that run the religion, oh and if one of them touches the alter-boy keep it hush. Make up a list of sins that are not in the Bible. Make religion and God into a chore instead of a joy.
Maybe Bill Maher is right.

YouTube Cheaters

I love Youtube. I use it for everything. I watch political shows like Bill Maher and Keith Olberman. I watch clips from tv and trailer mashups. I watch standup comedians. Some time I just use it to listen to music. And the occasional guy getting hit in the groin is good. But some people have discovered a new way to use YouTube, teaching people how to cleverly cheat.

It is a smart move really, I am not going to lie. These kids have new and exciting ways to cheat at school and they want to share. I am not saying you should cheat, I am totally against it, but these people are quite clever. And they are using YouTube to pass on there knowledge.

One video shows how to make labels for coke bottles that have the answers on them. Or write the answers on a stretched rubber band so that when you have it unstretched you can't see them. Writing answers on hidden parts of your body or hiding them in your clothes. Using unnecessary spaces and words to make papers look longer. All this stuff can to taught to an interested student by YouTube.

So what could be the outcome of this? Blocking YouTube on computers at schools? Banning bottles in the classroom? I really feel that if people feel the need to cheat they are going to, and hopefully the teacher catches them. YouTube is a great tool and a great resource. I find all the cheating tips entertaining, but would personally never use any of them.

Sen. Obama made a little bit of a ruckus again this week by making a comment along the lines of some Americans being "bitter." Sen. Obama has said that he used the wrong words, but that does not stop Hillary Clinton from attacking that. She has now said that Obama is not in tune with America and out of touch.
I'm sorry, but Obama was fighting for churches and the little guy on the streets of Chicago. The only reason he is worth a million dollars is because of his book deals, and he just paid off his student loans. He was raised by a single mother and now is raising two daughters in a post-9/11 America.

Someone else on the other hand has made one hundred and nine million dollars. Lived in the White House for eight years with things like a private airplane/helicopter/limo/butlers and servants/army/bodyguards/etc. Before that lived in the Governor's mansion in Arkansas. That is the last twenty-four years at least.

So who is out of touch with the normal American? At least Obama can remember everything he has done and takes the blame for things. Its funny that Hillary can't ever remember anything important.

And of course James Carville blasts Obama about his comment, yet he still won't take back his comment comparing Gov. Richardsen to Judas.

Kindle

I first learned about Kindle when Whoopi Goldberg talked about it on The View. Kindle is a new technology that has been pioneered by amazon.com. What Kindle is is the new book, and by that I mean the new personal library. It is a hand held device that can travel with you anywhere that you download books onto, and daily newspapers and magazines. If I wanted to read The Audacity of Hope, I could. And it appears on a paper-like screen. If I then wanted to catch up on my latest Stephen King novel I can go right to it. What if I wanted to read the article about the Election in TIME magazine, I can get a subscription to TIME for my Kindle. And the newest article by my friend Jose at the Washington Post? That can be on my Kindle too.
Where does this take our future? My college textbooks could be downloaded on to my Kindle and turn my hundred dollar books into ten dollar books. Elementary, Middle, and High Schools could put their textbooks on Kindle, and children will never forget them in their lockers or at home.
The only downside is the four-hundred dollar price tag, which really isn't bad when you think about it. Beside the fact that the price will go down in the future, you save lots of money on the books them selves. It will eventually pay for itself.
Think, in one hand held device I could have my Sociology book, Entertainment Magazine, my latest Stephen King novel, The Clinton Herald, and the Boy Scout Handbook. Maybe even the Bible. You could get the latest texts of the State of the Union address, or the transcript of the latest debate. This could revolutionize the classroom, and in the long run save school systems a lot of money.

Funny Women

There is this long standing status that women are not funny. If you were to ask me who I think the funniest people are, I would say Larry David, Ricky Gervais, Chris Rock, Dennis Miller, and probably Jerry Seinfeld. Every night I watch Jay Leno, Conan O'Brien, Stephen Colbert, and Jon Stewert. I wish I had HBO so I could watch Bill Mahr. I've paid money to see Lewis Black, Jim Gaffigan, and George Carlin. I have Mitch Hedburg on my IPOD. Look at history. Where would comedy be without Mark Twain, Groucho Marx, Benny Hill, or Monty Python? These comedians are all men. Some are Jewish, but none are women. But does that mean I am sexist or that I don't think women are funny? I don't really think so.
One of the funniest television characters is Elaine Benes, played by Julia Louise Dreyfus. Dreyfuss played a woman who was living in a man's world and held her own. Dreyfuss is now in another successful sitcom, and had a great guest-spot on Arrested Development. Susie Essman and Cheryl Heins are integral parts of Curb Your Enthusiasm. They both have a different type of funny. The same goes for Jenna Fischer and the girls on The Office.

One woman who has gained plenty of attention lately is Sarah Silverman. Silverman had one of the best tellings of the Aristocrats in The Aristocrats, and she was surrounded by the greats like Carlin, Richard Lewis, and Don Rickles. Silverman gets her funny by treading on the ground where men can't usually tread. Jokes about rape and menstruating are not in the usual guy-comedy show. Silverman now has her own show and the ever popular "I'm F-ing Matt Damon" video.

It seems people don't remember how funny Whoppi Goldberg, Ellen Degeneres, and Joan Rivers were before they became household names. What about the slew of funny women that have come out of Saturday Night Live. Gilda Radner was the original funny woman. Dreyfuss and Silverman both have a SNL history, and of course Tina Fey. Tina Fey was the head-writer on the show, had a popular movie with Mean Girls, and now has an award winning television show.

I could spend a while naming male comedians, but I would not be able to name too many women. And I know alot of comedians. I don't really think that the problem is there are no funny women, I think the problem is that female comedians are not as well known as their male counter-parts. Most of the time when you find a female comedian, she is really funny. Where there are a lot of male comedians that are famous that are not funny. (Ahem, Carlos Mencia, cough, Dane Cook.)

But you do have the best of both worlds with Eddie Izzard, who is a male comedian who is a funny woman.

Condolezza Rice

Sources are saying that Secretary of State Condolezza Rice is actively seeking to be Sen. McCain's Vice President nominee. Condi herself has repeatedly denied that she would like to be VP, and has stated she would like to go teach at an Ivy League school.
I wouldn't personally have a problem with Condi as McCain's running mate. I don't mind Condi and think that she only has a bad name because she is associated with the Bush administration.

Why Condi would be a good choice:
-Foreign Policy experience. And since McCain plans to carry on in Iraq, why not have Condi on his side. It used to be that Secretary of State was the only road to the White House.
-If McCain is competeing against a black man or a white woman, why not have a black woman?
-With his age he needs a young person, and she is still young.

Why Condi might not be a good choice:
-She is part of the Bush Administration. With John McCain being called George Bush's third term, he really needs to distance himself, and having Condi standing next to him might not be the best plan.
-She is not the most popular among Liberals, and because of that she would be an easy target for attacks. The Democrats are going to need all they can to attack because of what they are doing to themselves.

As far as other potential running mates: Romney and Huckabee are easy, they would both give McCain a Conservative boost. Gov. Crist of Florida, with all the primary mess on the Democrat side McCain could have a good shot at this swing state. Joe Lieberman would draw a more independent crowd, but hasn't he already lost a Presidential race? For a wild card-I would say John Kerry or another known Democrat. I feel a cross-party ticket could be good for our country, espicially if Hillary Clinton pulls through the nomination. If that happens, maybe we can have a McCain/Obama ticket. That would blow McCain/Rice out of the water.

Secret Invasion #1

It is here! After a four-year build-up, the invasion has been revealed. So what happens?
Years ago on a Skrull planet the Skrull Queen instructs her troops on what to be done.
Tony Stark, Hank Pym, and Reed Richards are dissecting the body of the Elektra Skrull.
Dum Dum Dungan arrives at the SWORD base in space, and they discover a Skrull ship entering Earth's airspace, and it crashes in the Savage Land. Stark is called away from the autopsy and calls Spider Woman to assemble the Mighty Avengers. She calls in the New Avengers, and with the help of Cloak, steal on of Stark's quinjets. The New Avengers crash in the Savage Land, and are stopped by the Might Avengers. Before a fight starts between the two Avengers teams, Dum Dum Dungan reveals himself as a Skrull and blows up the SWORD headquarters. Jarvis, Stark's butler, reveals himself as a Skrull and shuts down Stark's armour, causing him to have a seizure. Each time a Skrull attacks, he says, "He Loves You...." The SHEILD Hellicarrier is taken down by an alien virus. The prisoners at the Raft are set free and attack the guards. Marvel Boy notices he is free and leaves without helping the guards. The Thunderbolts are attacked by Captain Marvel. A tourist at the Baxter Building reveals to be a Skrull and turns into Susan Storm. The Skrull-Sue goes to the Negative Zone Portal controller and opens a portal to the Negative Zone in the middle of Manhattan. Johnny is close with the two kids.
Back in the Savage Land, Luke Cage opens the Skrull ship. Out comes Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, Spider Man, Luke Cage, Emma Frost, Beast, Invisible Woman, Wonder Man, Phoenix, Hawkeye, Vision, Scarlett Witch, Wolverine, Ms. Marvel, and I think Jessica Jones. Each one is in their old costumes, and they claim to be "back on Earth," like they are the real ones.
Hundreds of Skrull ships are coming towards Earth. And back at the Skrull autopsy, Hank Pym pulls out a gun and shoots Reed Richards. Pym turns into a Skrull.

WOW.
I thought Pym was a Skrull, and Dum Dum and Jarvis were no suprise. But the biggest shock moment was the ship full of heroes. I don't think all of them are real, some a Skrulls. They've already said that Cap is not a Skrull, and I don't think Stark is, because why would they attack him? Who is the "He" that loves everyone?

Thats my short list for right now. Barton had a mysterious death, and so did the Vision, yet I don't think the new Vision is a Skrull. Wolverine and Tony Stark better not be Skrulls, and hopefully not Luke Cage. I would be fine with Spider Man being a Skrull if it ends this Brand New Day crap.

One Laptop Per Child

A program was created by some of the faculty members at MIT that helps every student around the world eventually have a laptop, the One Laptop Per Child program. That is every child around the world. Of course, the laptops these children receive are not like the laptop I have in my room. These laptops are what they call a $100 laptop. Now, the laptop isn't exactly $100 dollars, but it is a lot cheaper the most laptops out there, and it can do a lot of stuff.

Now children in under-developed countries can be training with technologies that we will be having for future generations. Rwanda, Haiti, Uruguay, and Afghanistan are just some of the under-developed countries that have started using this program. The laptops are not made open to the public, except around Christmas time in 2007 when they had a give 1 get 1 program. If you buy a laptop, one would go to a child in a foreign country.

The Marvel Universe

Tomorrow the first issue of Secret Invasion hits stands, and I am kind of excited about it. I really don't read comic books, but I pay attention to the plots and what is going on. I will be reading Secret Invasion. This series has been build for the last four or five years. I will be posting reviews on each issue after I read them, so I thought I would write a summary of the last four or five years.

Years ago there was the Kree/Skrull War. After the war, Tony Stark (Iron Man), gathered all of the leaders from the different super groups and formed the Illuminati. The group consisted of Stark, Professor X, Reed Richards, Namor the Sub Mariner, Dr. Strange, and Black Bolt. The Illuminati went to the Skrull homeworld and were captured and studied. They escaped, and within time the Skrull homeworld was destroyed by Galactus. The Skrulls believe that Earth is rightfully theirs.

A terrible disaster struck the Avengers Mansion. A series of random attacks killed Scott Lang (Ant Man), Vision, and Clint Barton (Hawkeye). It is discovered that the source behind the attacks is Wanda Maximoff. She is taken away by her father, Magneto. The Avengers split-up because of it.

A shadowy figure has Electro cause a mass breakout at the Raft super prison. A random assortment of heroes arrives on the scene aid, but 42 villains escape. The heroes that assembled become the New Avengers. The line up includes Captain America, Iron Man, Luke Cage, Spider Man, Wolverine, Spider Woman, and the Sentry. They discover a plot in the Savage Land that they go and investigate. They come across a SHEILD facility that gets blown up before they can figure out what’s going on. Before these events the heroes were part of a Secret War that put Nick Fury into hiding.

Wanda Maximoff is manipulated by her brother Pietro into changing this reality into a reality were mutants are superior, The House of M. Some of the heroes become aware that this is not the real world and team up to take down the Maximoffs. Clinton Barton is alive in this reality. In the final battle, Wanda restores the universe to normal, but rids the world of all its mutants, except 198 of them.

The Hulk attacks Las Vegas, so the Illuminati trick him into getting in a satellite. The satellite sends the Hulk to the planet Sakaar, starting Planet Hulk.

A group of D-List heroes called the New Warriors track down some of the villains that had escaped the Raft. In the process of catching these villains, they cause a mass explosion that kills over 600 people. This causes the passing of the Superhero Registration Act. Iron Man accepts the idea and leads the Pro-Registration side. Captain America denounces the idea and leads the Anti-Registration side.

During the Civil War on Earth, an Annihilation is happening in space. The Annihilation wave destroyed the planets of the Skrull Empire.

A battle between the Pro Reg. and Anti. Reg. sides takes place in New York, causing Capt. America to turn himself into the authorities, and the 50 State Initiative begins. Capt. America is subsequently assassinated. Tony Stark becomes the director of SHEILD.

A new Avenger team is formed, the Mighty Avengers. Their lineup includes Iron Man, Ms. Marvel, Wonder Man, Wasp, Black Widow, Ares, and the Sentry. The New Avengers go underground. Their lineup includes Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Spider Man, Wolverine, Spider Woman, Dr. Strange, Echo, and a resurrected Clint Barton. The two teams are constantly at odds with each other.

The planet Sakaar is destroyed, killing the Hulk’s wife and child. Hulk decides the Illuminati are to blame and returns to Earth to kill them. World War Hulk begins with the Hulk taking down all of the Earth’s most powerful heroes. Hulk turns Madison Square Garden into a gladiator arena where Dr. Strange, Reed Richards, Black Bolt, and Tony Stark are forced to fight each other. Hulk is defeated by the Sentry, who has to use all of his power.

The New Avengers fight the Hand in Japan, led by Elektra. After a big fight, Echo stabs Elektra in the chest. Elektra’s body turns into a Skrull. The New Avengers realize that the Skrulls could have infiltrated all of the super groups. Spider Woman steals the body and brings it to Tony Stark.

Stark brings the body to a meeting of the Illuminati. When discussing what to do with the body, Black Bolt reveals himself as a Skrull and attacks them. The Illuminati now realize there is a full scale invasion, and they can’t trust anyone.

Today I finished watching one of my new favorite shows. The only problem is that it went off the air a couple of years ago. Good thing they may be making it into a movie. The show had great writing and acting. Each character was unique, and the 53 episodes all interwove and completed each other. The show has its quirks. The family lives in a model home, and drives an airport staircase. The only way to describe the show is to describe the characters.

Michael Bluth(Jason Bateman)- Michael is the middle son and Lindsay's twin brother. The shows straight-man. His wife has died previous to the show, and he has trouble with love, including his brother's girlfriend, a lawyer faking blindness, and a woman who was unknowingly mentally retarded. He took over the company to try and save his family.

George Bluth Sr.(Jeffrey Tambor)-The matriarch of the family. Is in prison for possible light treason, involving making model homes for Saddam Hussein in Iraq. He is imprisoned, breaks out of prison, and lives in the attic of the model home. He finds religion in Judaism and has a twin brother named Oscar.

Lucille Bluth(Jessica Walter)- George's alchololic wife, and mother of the family. Holds many family secrets and is not the best mother. She adopts a Korean boy.

G.O.B. Bluth(Will Arnett)- The older brother. G.O.B. is a "magician", who usually has lighter fluid or a dead dove shooting out of his sleeve. He is a patsy for his dad, and usually tries to one-up his brother with a stupid idea.

Lyndsay Bluth Funke(Portia de Rossi)- Michael's "twin" sister. She never has a job and is living in a failed marriage. She joins advocacy groups for weird special interests groups.

Dr. Tobias Funke(David Cross)- Tobais is Lyndsay's husband. He aspires to be an actor with help from Carl Weathers. He is a never nude, who can never be naked, even alone, and wears cut off bluejeans to help with that. He tries to join the Blue Man Group and gets hair plugs that reject his body.

Buster Bluth(Tony Hale)-The youngest Bluth sibling, Buster suffers from horrible panic attacks. He may be in love with his mother and dates her older best friend, also named Lucille. He gets his hand bitten off by a seal and gets a hook for a hand.

George Michael Bluth(Michael Cera)- George Michael is Michael's son. He works at the family's frozen banana stand. He is secretly in love with his cousin Maebe, but has a Christian girlfriend named Ann.

Maebe Funke(Alia Shawkat)- Lyndsay and Tobias' daughter. She is mostly forgotten by her parents. She was pretending to be a handicapped girl at her high school, and was later secretly working at a movie industry as an executive.

Running gags like how each family matter does a chicken impression make the show so much funnier. Another thing is how every character has a unique characteristic. The lawyer who is secretly gay, the competition who has no hair, the rich uncle who can't use his legs so he has a strong man carry him around instead of using a wheelchair. Celebrity cameos also don't take away attention from the show. This has to be one of the best and funniest shows ever, and its a wonder that it was cancelled.

I am finally going to discuss my take on the Rev. Wright situation. I do not understand why this is as big of an issue as it is. First off, why does what Obama's pastor says have any effect on him as a presidential candidate. Just because that is what the pastor believes, it does not mean that that is what Obama believes. I know in my church, everyone has a different idea of what is going on, though we all get the same message. Second, first Obama is a Muslim so he shows the public his church life to prove he isn't, then his pastor has said some controversial statements in his time and Obama gets hit on that too. No one even knows about Hillary and McCain's church life at all. There are Republicans who are mad about Rev. Wrights statements that listen to Pat Robertson and Jerry Falwell. I actually agree with Rev. Wright about his statements on 9-11, how we attack other countries and now they have attacked us. I do not agree that gays caused Hurricane Katrina.
It seems like all the little things that could be bad for Obama are stretched to be really bad things, when all the real bad things that should be bad for Hillary are not to be talked about.
At a recent college meet and greet. A man asked Chelsea Clinton if she thought the Lewinsky scandal had hurt her mother's credibility. Chelsea told him it was none of his business. Okay, so he should not have asked the daughter about it, but I think that it is his business. Why it is it not to be talked about. It seems like a big elephant in the room. But if Obama was to point out the elephant, he would ripped apart. Yet, Obama's preacher makes a comment a couple of years ago and Obama is hurt because of it.
Obama has been open about his taxes and schedules and life, yet Hillary is very secretive and will not release stuff until she has to. What is she hiding? We really don't get much of Hillary's personal life, but you get all of Obama's.
Obama now has to keep his distance from Rev. Wright, and Rev. Wright's credibility has been hurt. Yet Hillary has said nothing about the fact that Jim Carville called Bill Richardson "Judas." And she continues to make comments about Rev. Wright, when it should now not be an issue.

Honestly, after watching and reading this, I wonder how ANYONE can support Hillary Clinton, and how anyone can argue with me about the fact that I will vote for John McCain before her.

Bill Richardson endorsed Barack this week, and after 8 weeks of courting him, the Clinton campaign said that his endorsement wasn't a big deal. Jim Carville compared it to Judas betraying Christ. Hello! Not only is he comparing Bill Richardson to Judas, a man who has saved hostages and done a lot for our country, but he is also comparing Hillary to Christ.

How can anyone trust that woman? How does she have supporters. I want someone to give me an actual good reason to vote for her. Just one. I have not heard one yet.

In my opinion, gathered by my experience in the field, the only reason people are voting for her is a)she is a Clinton, and b) she is Bill's wife. And people are telling me to do research? Dear lord. This crap that she is pulling should be front page news and spread around. People need to know how bad this woman is.

Front Row Tickets to Wicked!

On Thursday, my friend Brandon and I went to Chicago for the day.
We went to the Oriental Theatre to check tickets prices and they wanted 70 dollars for a seat with an obstructed view. We were leaving and a man stopped us and told us about a hat that you put your name into and at 5:30 they draw for 20 front row seats. I asked this man if he was part of the show and he told us he played Elphaba's father. At 5:00 we came back to the theatre and put both of our names in. I started talking to a family that had 5 members and they told me that they lived nearby and were just up to try and get tickets. I told her we were from Iowa and were in for the day, and we talked a little more. When they called the names, one of the family's daughters got drawn, but they needed three more tickets. When the drawing got over, the lady tugged on my sleeve and told me not to leave yet. We gave them the 25 dollars apiece for the tickets, and the little girl waited in line to get them. We had front row seats to Wicked. Considering both times I've seen Wicked I was in the absolute last row, this was a major improvement. And it was awesome.

LOST- 3/20 Meet Kevin Johnson

So who is Kevin Johnson? It's Michael from Season 1&2.
In an episode that is pretty much just a flashback, Michael is in New York and he must have told Walt that he killed Libby and Ana Lucia, because Walt won't talk to him. He is trying to kill himself, but the island won't let him. He runs into Mr. Friendly who wants Michael to kill every one on the frieghter. Oh yeah, Mr. Friendly is revealed to be gay, like he hinted at last season. Micheal gets on the freighter, which leads him to be where he is. Sayid turns Micheal into the captain of the boat.
On the island, Karl gets killed, and Rousseau gets shot on the way to the temple. Alex is the only one standing.

Questions:
Did the captain already know? He seemed to know.
What is Libby's ghost doing?
What is Sayid thinking?
Is Rousseau dead?

Predictions:
I don't think Rousseau is dead.
Ben will turn out to be the good guy.

The Popular Vote

Does it bother anyone else that people are arguing about whether or not the popular vote counts?
Since "Super Tuesday", Barack Obama has received the support of 47 Superdelegates. Hillary Clinton has lost 7, at least 3 went to Obama, and 1 is disgraced New York Governor Elliot Spitzer.
Yesterday was the Iowa County Conventions, and I was a delegate in Clinton County. There was a woman there who supported Hillary Clinton and she said that every Democrat would vote for either Hillary or Obama. I told her that I would note vote for Hillary and would rather vote for McCain. She asked me why, which could be a daylong conversation. I told her first about Mark Penn's Facebook comment which told me the youth vote was not important to her. She said that that is not evidence against her because she did not say it, yet she never denounced it or said otherwise. She told me that there is a big difference between McCain and Obama on the war. I said that the war right now is not a problem with me, the surge worked. She told me the sure did not work and that I should educate myself on current events. I get a news feed about 24/7, and I told her I pay attention to all current events, and the surge worked. I said I don't understand where Hillary gets her experience from. She has had only one elected position and I don't count First Lady as a political experience. She told me that everything I say is just talk and that I need to educate myself. I guess she didn't know who she was talking too, and I told her I have educated myself on every candidate, and I don't see where Hillary has anymore experience then Barack. She said we need to agree to disagree and walked away. She never gave me one reason to support Hillary, she just told me why I was wrong.
It is people like her that are telling people that their vote doesn't count anymore, and that superdelegates are the thing that counts. That is where democracy is dieing. How can Hillary say that she will win based on Super Delegates when she has not received very many at all since January. How can the next President of the United States tell the American people that the record amount of youth and new voters that have come out in this election do not matter.
It I was a Superdelgate I would get off my butt and make a difference now. Come on Bruce Braley and Tom Harkin. Come on Jim Webb and Nancy Pelosi. Al Gore. Bill Richardson and Joe Biden. Do something to get this party connected. Show people that their vote matters in this election.

LOST- 3/13 Ji Yeon

The first episode that uses both the flashbacks and flashforwards. A Sun and Jin centric episode. But the flahforward and flashback are shown to look like they are one.
In the flashback, Jin is trying to buy a stuffed Panda and says he needs to get to his wife. He reveals that he has only been married for two months.
In the flashforward, Sun is going into labor, but she wants to wait for Jin before she has the baby. This is where we see the flashback with Jin buying the panda. Sun gives birth to the baby and names her Ji Yeon. Hurley arrives in Korea, and they take the new baby to see her father. Who is in the cemetary.
On the island, Sun cannot get an answer out of Faraday as to why he is there. She decides she needs to go to Locke's camp. Juliet discovers this and tries to stop her for fear of the baby. Sun still wants to go, so Juliet tells Jin Sun had an affair. Jin storms off to go fishing with Bernard. Bernard tells Jin that they are the "good guys". Jin asks Sun if the baby is his. She tells him it is.
On the freighter, Sayid and Desmond wish to see the captain. Frank takes off in the helicopter. A depressed Regina jumps overboard. They meet the captain, but are told not to trust him. Desmond finds out that Widmore sent the boat. Sayid and Desmond are given a room but it has blood on the wall. The Janitor, Kevin Johnson, is told to clean it. Johnson is revealed to be Micheal.
We find out someone will die next week.

Questions:
I still think Jin was one of the Oceanic 6, but his date of death is the date of the crash, maybe he was one of the two that Jack said made it to the island. But how did Jin die?
How did Micheal get to where he is? Hopefully we find out next week.
Why was Sun asking for Jin if he is dead?

Predictions:
I think Sayid is going around capping off people who have ties with the fake plane crash.
I don't think that Jin will be the next to die, I think that they will play with that for a while.

Keith Olberman on Geraldine Ferraro

Keith Olberman is saying everything I have been thinking, and what every pundent should be pointing out.
Geraldine Ferraro, the "Tits" half of "Fritz and Tits," was Walter Mondale's running mate when he ran for President. I was at the event where Walter Mondale endorsed Hillary, and Ferraro was on her finance commitee. Ferraro has repeatedly said remarks about Obama's skin color and has tried to turn her attacks around, and is even saying that she is the victim. Honestly now. Why can't anyone in the Clinton campaign say that they were wrong. Or have and apology that actually sounds authentic.

Obama has recently said that there are more states then just Pennsylvania. The Clinton campaign used this against him and tried to tell Pennsylvania that he doesn't like then. When Hillary lost Iowa, she said it was not about states but delegates. When Barack took the lead in delegates, she said that it is the person who wins the big states.
What I see here, is that Barack will be the President of the United States. Hillary will be the President of Texas, Ohio, New York, New Jersey, California, and Pennsylvania.

I hope the public see this and take note. I think the Superdelegates are. Since last Tuesday, Barack has gotten at least seven new Superdelegates. Since Tuesday Hillary has not only recieved none, but she lost one because the Governor of New York was being fiddled by a hooker.

The Producers

Tonight I had a ticket to The Producers at the Gallagher Bluedorn. I was supposed to go last night, but the whole gun scare thing put a squash to that.
Max Bialystock is a Broadway Producer, who, with the help of the accountant Leo Bloom, discovers that he could make more money with a flop on Broadway then with a hit. The get the worst script, actors, and director to attain this flop. They choose Springtime for Hitler, a gay romp with Adolf Hitler and Eva Braun. Of course, the audience loves the show and Leo and Max get caught.

I finally got to see The Producers which I have wanted to do for a while. It was worth it just to see Springtime for Hitler on stage. Usually I hate when a show breaks the forth wall, but they made it really funny. Max made a reference about how he is no Nathan Lane. I have always wanted to see the show and it really made me week. It was an awesome experience.

Diary of a Lockdown

5:30ish- Annoucment comes over the intercom system. Dancer Hall is in lockdown mode. All doors are to be locked and stay away from windows.

5:31- I have positioned myself crouched by the door with a pocket knife.

5:32- I called my father to inform him I am in lockdown mode. I informed him not to tell my mother.

6:00ish- The Police have entered the bathroom across from my room and yelled, "Police!" I hear the sounds of the stall doors being pushed back.

6:02- I call my father to tell him about the Police. My mother answers in tears asking me what happened. She has informed every member of my family.

6:15- Series of phonecalls and texting starts to figure out what is going on.

6:30- It is now an hour until The Producers. I am confident I can make it.

6:45- Talk to Vera for a while. Confirming I am safe.

7:00- Half hour till Producers. Pissed I might not make it. By this time we have discovered that there was a girl in Dancer who was threaten with a gun by boyfriend, and that is why we are in lockdown mode.

7:15- Obama wins Mississippi. I call Grandma to tell her I am safe. Discover no one has told Grandma. Grandma takes it way better then mom did.

7:30- Officially missing The Producers.

7:45- Sounds like the guy has been caught.

8:00- We are free. No one was killed or anything. I try and make it to the Producers for half-time. Got my ticket exchanged.

Spitzer Swallows

Well what do you know, another political scandel involving a high profile politician and a loose-liped hooker(pun not intended, but now funny).
The Governor of New York is paying for action on the side and is now the fodder of the late night comedians.
My thoughts are that he should make a public apology and resign. Let the Lt. Governor take over, and do it now. Don't mess around. Get him out. I think that is completly unexceptable behavior from an elected official.

The good news, Obama wins Mississippi.
The bad, we are currently locked in our rooms with the treat of a gunman on campus.

The Wizard of Oz

I was nervous going in, because I was very disappointed with every aspect of Into the Woods last year. But they really redeemed themselves. I am very proud of every one in the show, they did an awesome job. Of course there were little hitches here an there, but altogether it did not matter.

Lindsay Newton did a good job of capturing the charector of Dorothey. Aaron Wells did an excellant job as Oz/Captain Marvel. Nick Divarco is definatly becoming a stronger actor, proven with the Scarecrow. But the highlight of the show for me was Kris Doss as the Lion. Kris has really come a long way with his acting, and his singing. He really was having fun doing it, and I think it showed through. And even though a couple actors flubbed lines and had to improv, the improve was really funny.

The set was great, and the costumes were really cool (except most I had already seen on the Circa stage.) I loved how the Munchkins looked like extras from Laugh In. The sound of the twister, and the changing of Aaron Well's voice was awesome.

My only few problems with the show was the pit,(they sounded like they only rehearsed once), some people didn't do the best with the high notes, and it really didn't seem like Tyler Mootz was playing the Tin Man, but playing "Tyler Mootz dressed as Tin Man." If he would have been more stiff it would of helped out alot.

Altogether though I really enjoyed the show and am very proud of everyone who was in it.

LOST-3/6 The Other Woman

Sorry I am a couple days late. I was gone for the weekend.

A Juliet-centric episode.
Another very interesting episode. We've known that Juliet had a thing with Goodwin, but now we find out that Goodwin was married to Juliet's therapist. Juliet's therapist, Harper, finds Juliet in the woods and gives her a message from Ben to kill Lewis and Faraday. There is another Dharma station on the island, and this one can release a poisonous gas that will kill everyone on the island. Kate finds Lewis and Faraday and is knocked out. Juliet and Jack are in pursuit. Lewis and Faraday reach the station, but Juliet is right behind them and gets in a fight with Lewis. Faraday disables the gas mechanism on the island. This is against what Harper told Juliet.
In the flashback, Juliet is enjoying her affair with Goodwin, and Harper knows about it. Ben shows Juliet the rotting body of Goodwin after he was killed by Ana Lucia. He then tells her that she is his. Ben and Juliet sitting in a tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G.
Ben shows Locke a video of the man who is trying to find the Island-Penny's dad Charles Widmore.

Yesterday afternoon President Bush endorsed John McCain and said he feels McCain is the best person to take over his job.
Now people are arguing whether this is a good thing or a bad thing. I feel it is moot point that doesn't need to be argued about.
Okay, so Bush has gotten our country into a little bit of a mess, and could go down in history as one of the worst Presidents and a Lame Duck. But Bush is a Republican, of course he is going to endorse the Republican nominee. He is not going to endorse Barack or Hillary. Just because he hasn't been the best President doesn't mean he can't support the Republican nominee. I think if Rudy Guilliani or Mitt Romney was wearing McCain's shoes today, Bush would be behind then too.
The same thing with other politicians. Larry Craig might not come out and publicaly endorse McCain, but you know that he will vote for him in November. Larry Craig solicited gay sex in a men's restroom. Trent Lott will vote for McCain in November. Trent Lott made a racist comment at Strom Thurmond's birthday party. Was it Mark Foley who sent messages to the Congressional pages? He will vote for McCain in November. Dick Cheney shot a man in the FACE. We know this. But I don't think it will reflect bad on McCain.
The same on the Democrat side. Ted Kennedy killed a woman. Kerry and Edwards already lost an election. Bill Clinton did have sexual relations with that woman. Ted Kennedy KILLED A WOMAN! I don't feel that reflects negatively on the candidate they support.
So Bush says that McCain is the best man to clean up his mess. Let 'em. Of course party big shots are going to stand behind their candidate, McCain can choose how to use them.

The 3 AM Call

So this is the new fear, the 3 AM phone call.

Who do I trust to be answer the phone call at 3 AM. Well, John McCain is 72, which means he goes to sleep at 4 PM and wakes up at 2 AM, so he would be a good choice.
I am pretty sure Barack Obama does not sleep. So he would be a good choice.
But the woman who is scarring the country into thinking our children are in danger, and are only safe if she answers the phone. I really don't like that. This to me just seems like another terror scare that Bush keeps pulling. What worries me more is that the pundits are saying that that ad could be the reason she won Texas and Ohio. That just sends the message to the Clinton campaign to scare us some more.
I don't understand how her campaign is appealing. She uses attack and scare adds-Obama does not. She takes money from lobbyist while saying we need to fight them-Obama does not. She badmouths the states that she did not win- Obama does not.

I don't want to sound like I am against a woman President, because I am not. But the image in my mind is Hillary Clinton waking up to the 3 AM call with a hair cap and that green paste-crap on her face with cucumbers in her eyes stumbling to the phone. Getting a message that we have been attacked, she walks to the bathroom to shower and put on her make-up. An hour later she is ready to address the nation in her nicest pantsuit.

If I wanted a woman President for the sole purpose of answering that phone, I would vote for Condelliza Rice.

Mike Huckabee

It is mathematically proven that Mike Huckabee needs 123 percent of the remaining Republican delegates in order to secure the Republican nomination. But Mike Huckabee is still in this race. I don't think Mike Huckabee is selfish or stupid for sticking in the race, nor do I think that of Ron Paul or Mike Gravel. Huckabee is the only candidate left who believes in his beliefs. The fact is that there are still alot of Americans who believe that too. Mike Huckabee knows he will not be the next President, but he is just trying to show the Republican party and John McCain that those people are out there, and they want someone to represent them. I am not saying that Mike Huckabee wants to be Vice President, but I can see that happening. Either way, I think Huckabee is showing the party that they need an equal representation. Paul and Gravel are doing the same, but not as well. McCain knows now that he needs someone as his running mate who will cater to the extreme right wing, whether it be Huckabee or someone else.

Now Hillary Clinton on the other hand, I feel is hurting the party not helping. Huckabee knows he will not be President and his beliefs differ from John McCain's. Hillary and Obama's beliefs are fairly similar, they just have differnt ways of going about it. Huckabee does not attack McCain and pull up bad information about his past. Hillary wants to win so bad, she is doing anything and everything she can. This is hurting the party because it gives McCain more time to plot, and she is giving him material. This also shows me that all Hillary wants is to win, and doesn't really care about the people as much as she says she does. The way I see things, all Barack is able to do now is defend himself. He is constantly being attacked. Then she gives him crap for not saying his ideas and just being motivating. First of all, different sources have studied both Obama's stump speech and Hillary's and discovered that they both share the same amount of info about their policys. Second, it is his motivating and moving speeches that are getting record amounts of people and youth to the caucuses. He is making people want to be active in their government like they should be. If she would stop digging up information and stop giving John McCain material, he would be able to do more with speeches and start to unite the Democrats.

This stuff that Hillary Clinton is doing is very unappealing to me. I don't see how it is appealing to anyone. If it wasn't for the fact I don't trust Hillary Clinton anyway, a situation like this is what would send me over to McCain if Obama is not able to get the nomination.

No Country For Old Men

I have not seen a movie in a long time that has really impressed me or excited me, and this one did. I loved every minute of it.

Llewlyn Moss gets mixed up in a bad situation after stumbling upon the site of a drug deal gone bad. And now he is running for his life. The person chasing him: Anton Chigurh, played by the brilliant Javier Bardem. Chigurh's weapons for killing: a silenced shotgun and a captive bolt pistol, and air gun used to kill cattle. Tommy Lee Jones plays an older sheriff trying to figure out the situation. I don't want to go into any detail because I don't want to give anything away, and the fact that I didn't know anything going in made it even better.

The Coen's really nailed this one. It kinda had a Fargo-feel to it, but it also had a similar plot. I think this movie really deserved the Best Picture, Director and Screenplay, and Javier Bardem was a no-brainer.

The movie comes out on DVD in two weeks, and that is exactly when I am going to by it.

Planet of the Apes

I recently re-watched the original Planet of the Apes. I've enjoyed this movie ever since I was liitle, and before the Tim Burton version came out. Of course now watching it, ever since CGI and Burton's version, the make-up and special effects seem so hoky. But back in 1967, they were revolutionary. Before then, a person playing an ape looked like a man in a bad Disney charector suit. You could see the zipper and there was very little facial movement. But this new technique gave the apes life, and facial movements. Of course it is nothing compared to Burton's, but still amazing. The make-up winner got two Oscars that year. One for best make-up, the other a special award for advancement in make-up.
Of course when I was little, all I saw was a movie about monkeys, but now I see it differently. There is a big trial scene where the orangatans are trying Taylor for crimes that have no basis for trial. I see this differently now when I know that Kim Hunter, who plays Zira, was blacklisted. The screen writer was also blacklisted, and I think you can clearly see refernces to this through out the movie. Of course the people will say they were not making a politcal movie, but I think it comes through.
Of course there is the famous ending where Charlton Heston discovers he has been on Earth the entire time. An ending actually thought up by Rod Serling. Well the sequel, Beneath the Planet of the Apes, draws form this and makes a more political movie then the first one.
A new astronaut lands on the planet, and discovers the city of New York, underground, and filled with mutated people that worship the atomic bomb. This movie came out during the hight of the Vietnam War. It eventually shows the world being destroyed by the bomb's blast. Heston and the new astronaut discuss how the human love for warfare and the bomb has brought down human society within the film. I think it was really an eye opener, because I fell that the views shown in the movie are correct.
The power lies within those who worship the bomb. Those who do not have the bomb fear and hate those who do, and wish to take them down out of fear. It is similar pattern that is shown in our society. But what is worrisome is that we need a plant of monkeys to point this out and we don't see it ourselves.
I love these movies, and I have ever since I was little.

Of course in every election different celebrities endorse candidates in order for that candidate to get your vote. Of course you have Tim Robbins and Susan Sarandon, Martin Scheen and Rob Reiner who always back a Democrat. Chuck Norris and Sly Stallone usually go Republican. But in most cases Hollywood is usually Democrat. Well some celebrities have been pretty vocal in the latest election. Black Eyed Peas member will.i.am has created two pretty popular videos for Senator Obama.

both videos are full of celebrities including Jessica Alba, Scarlett Johansen, John Leguizamo, John Legend, George Lopez, Harrold Perrineu, and Luis Guzman.

Now on the Hillary Clinton side, we get a little message from Jack Nicholson.

Of course when I think of Hillary Clinton, I think of The Joker. The Joker has been named Wizard Magazine's worst villain ever. He has killed thousands of innocent people just to make himself laugh. And then Jack Torrence, who is on AFI's worst villains list. A certified madman. What better way to advertise a political candidate, but with at least two horrible villains.

I think that when you look at the videos you can definitely tell how this election has been going. The Obama videos are full of younger celebrities. Jessica Alba and Scarlett Johansen are today's Hollywood starlets. John Legend is the future of classic music. Harrold Perrineu is on LOST. And even the endorsements he has gotten that are not in the video tend to be younger celebrities. Usher and Kerry Washington have been stumping for him on the campaign trail. Brandon Routh and Kal Penn have been going to college campuses. I personally got to talk with Kal Penn for a little while. He said he was usually apolitical and does not associate himself with a party, but Obama inspired him to be active. But then you also have another side with Obama, the respected Hollywood elite side. Robert DeNiro, Forest Whitaker, and George Clooney are a who's who of Oscar winning actors, and Larry David. And no one can forget Oprah Winfrey. I was in Des Moines at the Oprah event where 18,500 people showed up. She is the most powerful woman in the world. This shadows how the youth and younger generations are coming out for Obama, but you also have the seasoned old timers.

Clinton's celebrity fanbase has not been nearly as vocal or available. Stephen Speiberg, Ted Dansen, that bald guy from West Wing, and the ladies on The View. No one can really attract a big crowd, let alone a crowd full of youth. Jack Nicholson is a good actor and I would go to an event to see him, but I don't think a political message with the Joker in it is an appropriate thing for an election. It's like when I went to see Fred Thompson, he has John Rich from Big and Rich sing. In a crowd full of old Republicans, he sang Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy. The song was completely inappropriate for the venue.

The only other real big celebrity in the race is Chuck Norris. Norris' support of Huckabee even started a fight between the late night comedians. But now Huckabee doesn't have an ice cubes chance in hell of getting the nomination, so look how that turned out.

I think celebrity endorsement can be a good thing. The 18,500 people who were there to "see Oprah" also saw Barack speak, and it garnered more press for Sen. Obama. I would never have gotten to sit down with Kal Penn or see John Legend sing if it wasn't for their interest in the political landscape. But even if Christopher Walken and Paul Reubans endorsed a canidate, I would still go for the one that I thought was the best. A celebrity's opinion would not influence my thought. But the fact that Larry David is on the same board with me does make me feel better about Larry David. And thats the thing. The celebrity is putting their image on the line to share how they feel. Look at Oprah, a balck woman who has to choose between a black man and a woman. Now, I personally do not feel Oprah has back Barack because he is black, but a lot of people do, and even if she says she doesn't, people will still think that way. But if celebrities want to put there reputation on the line, let em.

LOST-2/28 The Constant

Just when you think you know what is going on, they through in an episode like this one.
Well, on the way to the freighter, Desmond starts to experience an unexpected side effect.
Desmond is back and forth in time between 1996 and 2004. Minokowski, the guy they've been talking to on the boat and Phoebe's boyfriend Rodger from Friends, is also having these side effects. Desmond starts to talk with Daniel on the satellite phone. Daniel tells him to find Daniel in 1996. He does so and discovers the Daniel in 1996 is working with time travel. Desmond discovers that he needs a constant in 1996 and 2004 that he can use to snap him out of it. Of course he tries Penny. He finds Penny's father in 1996 who has just bought at auction a portrait and book about the Black Rock, the slave ship on the island. His 1996 self finds Penny, but the communication equipment in 2004 is broken. Sayid fixes it and Desmond gets to talk with Penny for the first time in over three years. Him and Penny both tell each other they lover each other, and Desmond is pulled back into the present. Daniel opens his journal on the island and sees a page that says, "Desmond Hume is my constant."

Predictions:
Especially after the meeting with Penny I feel Desmond will get off the island.
I don't think Minokowski is actually dead.
Micheal is on that boat and opened the door.

Questions:
What the hell is going on with Faraday and time travel?
Who destroyed the communication equipment?
What is up with the guys on the freighter? Who is the Captain?

With the whole time travel thing. Does Daniel remember Desmond and does Desmond remember Daniel? Does Desmond remember leaving the army and trying to find Penny, and if he does, why didn't he see the time travel thing coming?

The Office(US) vs. The Office(UK)

So now I have watched every episode of the American and British versions of The Office. I loved both show, and for how much the are similar, they are very different. It is funny how you can have two shows that started with the same episode, have similar plots all the way through, and yet be two completely different shows.
One big difference in the shows is the level of humor. The American version has an in-your-face "Seinfeld with a touch of slapstick" humor. I literally laughed out loud at least once during every episode. There are really no favorite episodes, just favorite moments. Meredith trapped in a bag with a bat. Hilarious. Arguing about Alfredo's pizza. Hilarious.
The British version has a British comedy style where there are a couple of laugh out loud moments here or there, but even when there are none you sit back at the end of each episode and think, "That was hilarious."
The second big thing is the characters. Of course the American version has had way more episodes then the British one, but the characters are way more developed, and more cared about. In the British you have your main characters,(David, Gareth, Tim, and Dawn) but that is about it. They don't explore the other workers as nearly as they did in the first 12 episode of the American one. My favorite character is Toby. Toby is a background character who shows up every once in a while, but I feel like I know Toby, he has been explored. In the British version I'd have to say my favorite character is David, but David is the main character, and also played by one of the funniest men on the planet.
The plots are both very similar. Beside working in an office, one office has to incorporate another one, the main male character and the engaged receptionist have a thing, the main male plays pranks on his desk mate, the desk mate is a spazz who thinks he is more qualified then he actually is, and the boss is a humor loving moron who wants to be everyone's friend.
All and all I think no one series is better then the other. They both have there high points, but neither stands out ahead of the other. I don't know if a cross-over episode would be cheesy or brilliantly funny.

This is what it is coming down to? Making fun of a man's middle name?
This reminds me of a conversation I had with an older Republican man at a Rudy Guilliani town hall meeting. This man asked me if I supported a canidate yet. I told him that I was supporting Senator Obama. This man had to have been in his seventies, and was a WWII veteran.
He asked me, "Do you know what his middle name is?"
I replied, "Yes, but I don't know when a person's middle name has judged their charector."
He said, "Well I am just saying, why take the chance?"
I said, "Well who would consider the best President was, Ronald Reagan?"
He nodded.
"Well, what if before you voted for Reagan you found out his middle name was Adolf, and you did not vote for Ronald Reagan because of it?"
The man didn't know what to say, and changed the topic. At the end of Guilliani's speech we got up to leave and the man turned to me and said, "Son, I fought in World War II, and one of the first things I learned was to not take chances."
I have a lot of respect for this man, though I think some of his ideas are flawed. I fell that if the Terrorists were going to covertly take over the US government, the would do it a little more discretly the with Barack Obama.
My middle name is Paul. All that says about me is that my father's middle name is Paul. Paul does not reflect my charector, nor does it determine my future.
I think it is just plain stupid that people can actually use that as a reason not to vote for a man.

Democratic Debate-2/26

Last night was hopefully the last of 20 democratic debates, and of course it was between Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama.
Though I am biased toward Obama, I try and watch as if I am not.
Going into this debate, Barack is slowly catching up in Ohio, and now winning in Texas. Hillary needs to win by 20 percent in both states to be able to get the nomination. Hillary Clinton needed to WOW the audience last night and really prove that she would be a better canidate then Barack for the presidency, and all Barack really needed to do was just hang on. Well Hillary did not do any wow-ing.
When Hillary really started to irretate me was when Tim Russert was asking her about the war. I love Tim Russert. He asked both canidates about there willingness to pull the troops out of Iraq, but leave some for some protection. They both said they wanted to do that. He then asked what they would do if Iraq said, "Well, if you are not going to leave them all we want you out completely." would they do it. Both of them said probley yeah. Then he asked Hillary about what if then the bad guys in Iraq came back, would you send troops back to help out. Instead of saying yes or no, she argued with Russert about the fact that the question was hypothetical. But isn't that what these debates are for: hypothetical acts of the future. The fact that we could have universal healthcare is hypothetical. You can have all the plans in the world, and they have since the 40's, but there is a chance it might not get of the ground. If she is not ready now to make a decision, is she going to be ready when the time comes? Will she really ready to answer the 3 AM phone call?
Now Hillary camparing Barack to George W. is the stupidist thing. Thats how far she has sunk. She says negative things about him all the time, but when he puts out a flyer with citings of real events, she yells "Shame on you!" Give me a break.
Over all I do feel Barack did better in the debate, solelly because he didn't really make any flip-ups. He said he ideas and defended them. Hillary just couldn't make any ground.

Dodd endorsing Obama

Chris Dodd is a Democratic Senator from Connecticut who was running for President this year. He did not do the best in the Iowa Casucuses and dropped out that night.
I've met Chris Dodd 3 times, and each time I met him I was more intrigued by him. He was endorsed by the Firefightes Union and had a loyal following with his Dodd Squad. But what some people don't know is that he dated Carrie Fisher for a while, and even had a Star Wars charector (Lott Dodd) named after him.
Well this morning Sen. Dodd endorsed Senator Obama. This was not much of a suprise to me since I know that Dodd and Ted Kennedy are pretty good friends, and the Dodd and Obama ideas were fairly similar. Dodd is also friends with Sen. Joe Biden, who also ran for President, so hopefully he might endorse soon too.

When I met Hillary Clinton back in November she was a shue-in to win the Iowa caucuses and the next President of the United States.
Now it is February, and in just four months things have drastically changed. The historic campaign that Hillary Clinton was running has now become a mess and a joke.

Obama is beating me in Iowa polls-Obama did drugs
Obama beat me in Iowa-I'm crying about our country
I didn't follow the rules like Obama and Edwards did- I want those delagates
Obama is ahead of me in South Carolina polls-In come Bill, this is a fairy tail
Obama ahead in Wisconsin polls- Obama doesn't do debates
Obama wins ten in a row- Obama plagurizes his speeches
Obama ahead or her in Texas polls- Release the photo of Barack in a turbin

One of the big differences I 've seen in Barack and Hillary these past weeks is in how they treat the states that have already had races.
When Obama lost in New Hampshire and Nevada, he thanked the states and then continued to mention the people that he met and stories that he heard in his speeches.
When Hillary lost in Iowa she told New Hampshire that Iowans don't know what they are doing and that they helped her find her voice after 5 days. She spent 10 months in Iowa, but those 5 days in New Hampshire gave her her new lease on life. She tries to spin her loses by saying she didn't plan on winning those states, or they won't win those states in November anyway. Her whole campaign reminds me of a bad elementry school student council election. "Billy is a doo-doo head. The people that like Billy don't know what they are doing anyway."

Come on Hillary. In order to win the nomination she needs to win at least by 20 percent in Texas and Ohio, and all the rest of the states by large margins. McCain doesn't even have to do Huckabee attacks anymore and has already started to attack Obama. Edwards knew when it was his time to drop out, and even Romney knew when to say when. The best thing for the Democratic party would be for her to drop out before the 4th and endorse Barack, instead of pointing out his faults. All she is doing is preping the McCain campaign with material. But she is Hillary Clinton and she will not do that. Her own staff are looking for new jobs because they can feel the end is near. Unless it comes out tomarrow that Barack Obama is in fact the AntiChrist and he drinks the blood of babies and likes to kill puppies with a hammer for fun, it does not look good for her.

2008 Academy Awards

Well the Academy Awards just got over, and from my predictions I only got two wrong. That ain't bad. Tilda Swinton ended up with Best Supporting Actress, and Marion Cotilliard pulled through Best Actress. I really enjoyed all of the montages leading up to each award. Being the 80th ceremoy, each main award had a lead up montage of all the previous winners. It is always cool to see Cuba Gooding's freakout, and Adrien Brody's Halle Berry makeout session, Jack Palance's pushups, and Billy Crystal in the Hannibal outfit.
John Stewert wasn't the best host last time, and he wasn't the best this time. He was better then Ellen, but I wish they would bring back Chris Rock, or have Conan do it. He did have good moments with the "Binocuillars and Periscopes" Montage, and the "Waking up from a nightmare" montage, which had Pee Wee from Big Adventure in it.
All in all it was a good award show. All the Actor wins were relative unknowns beside Daniel Day. My favorite part might haave been Steve Carrell swearing under his breath and having it not be censored.

Ralph Nader Again

I don't know if Ralph Nader has noticed, but the 2008 Presidential Race has been paid more attention then any other is recent history. For the first time, there is a woman and a black man who have a good chance of the nomination, and that race is amazingly close. The Republican side had five qualified individuals who were neck and neck for a while. The issues seem more important, and people are more involved. Every Primary and Caucus has had record-breaking attendence.
And of course, since people didn't think he was the answer in 2000 and 2004, he must be the best canidate now. Because those Democrats out in the streets fighting each other about if Barack or Hillary will be a better canidate were beging for him to join in.
It is true that third party canidates in America don't get a fair shake. But Ralph Nader is not George Wallace and Ross Perot. He doesn't have a chance of winning at all.
It is actually Raplh Naders fault that George Bush is President. Bush only beat Al Gore in Florida by around 550 votes. Over 97,000, which most of those voters said they would have voted Gore. That means if Ralph Nader would have not run in 2000, Al Gore probley would have won, and we might not have not have this awesome presidential race.
Now, in November when voters are trying to decide between McCain and hopeully Obama, Nader's name will be there too.
Lets hope this doesn't become a 2000 replay.

Tonight we went and saw There Will Be Blood.
Daniel Day Lewis is a oil driller who has aquired alot of good land. He does this with the help of his young son, who he adopted after finding in a basket. There is a local preacher boy played by the brother from Little Miss Sunshine. He causes some trouble for Lewis as his local church is recruiting the drillers. His half brother comes to meet him played by Benny from the Mummy. Lewis tries to strike deals with local land owners and oil companies, and he is trying to build a pipeline.
The movie was really good and I liked it, but I wouldn't buy it on DVD. IMDB has it as 23 in the top 250, and that really isn't deserved. Though it was a good movie, it wasn't 23 good. Daniel Day does deserve the best Actor Oscar. His performance was incredible, and even Clooney has said he hopes Lewis gets it. I am not sure about Best Picture though. I feel this is the Coen's year.

LOST-3/21 Eggtown

Well this was a Kate-centric episode that expanded more on what happens to the fugutive Kate when she leaves the island.
Kate is living with Claire and Aaron. Kate is scared to pick Aaron up, Kate tricks Hurley into revealing the location of Miles, Miles wants to talk with Ben, Sawyer and Locke are too late to stop Kate, Miles wants 3.2 million dollars from Ben. Kate gets banished.
Jack cannot get ahold of the freighter, Charlotte uses the emergency number and it works, the helicopter has not yet made it to the freighter after a day. Oh, and this should be Christmas day if the show has a proper timeline.
Flashforward-Kate is under trial for the murder of her stepfather. Jack is called as a charector witness, Kate reveals she has a son, Kate sickly-mother talks to her, the trial comes to agreement, Jack basically tells Kate he loves her in a parking garage, Kate goes home to reveal the man that was waiting for her at the end of the season finale: Aaron.

Why does Miles only want 3.2million from Ben?
Why does Jack say eight people survive the crash, yet there is the Oceanic 6?

By this time Jack knows that Aaron is his nephew. Maybe Claire dies or something and it is hard for Jack.

The Riches

I've been watching this show called The Riches.
It stars Eddie Izzard and Minnie Driver as a couple of travelers (Gypsy types) who run into a bad situation resulting in the death of a rich couple. The couple just happened to have just bought a house over the internet, and are very rich. Izzard and his family: Driver, a daughter, a son, and a younger son who cross-dresses, are master cons and take on the lives of the dead couple. Izzard fakes being a lawyer, and Driver is dealing with a drug problem. They are in constant fear of being caught, and their travelor families discovering where they are.
The plot is very interesting and differnt. Izzard is a better actor then I thought, and Driver is, um, well, interesting.

The Running Man

I just recently finished The Running Man by Richard Bachman(Stephen King).
It was really good. It was about a man(Ben Richards) who has a sick child and does not have enough money for treatment. Set in the future, Richards tries out for a reality show, but in the future, reality shows are deadly. There is Treadmill for Dollars where men with heart conditions run on a treadmill and answer trivia questions. Richards is chosen for the most popular show, The Running Man. He will be released into the world and will be hunted by a group of hunters, and anyone else who sees him.
After reading it, I don't understand how people didn't relize Richard Bachman was Stephen King. Beside references to Derry, Maine, and Boston, their writing styles are exactly the same.
All and all, The Running Man was a very gripping, easy read that I would recommend to anyone.

Who am I?

My name is Andy Green, I am a student at the University of Northern Iowa.
When my grandfather passed away in 2004, I received a Mr. Potato Head that had been sitting on his shelf. Instead of just letting it sit on my shelf, I started taking him with me when I traveled and take pictures of him in front of different famous locations.
In February of 2007, Barack Obama came to Waterloo to announce his canidacy for President of the United States. I went to the event with Mr. Potato Head and fought through a crowd to get a picture of Senator Obama with my potato. Sen. Obama was very kind and took the picture. That night I thought to myself, all these canidates will be in Iowa and in my area, I want to get them all. And that is exactly what I did. Every canidate posed with Mr. Potato Head, even Hillary Clinton. Well, every one except Joe Biden, who; "Does not take pictures with funny hats and funny toys." I even got Bill Clinton to pose with it.
I am now in the process of getting pictures of him in front of all 51 Capitol Buildings, every Major League Baseball park, the Presidential Gravesites, and the 1000 places to see before you die. Plus anything else I want.
